Taiwan Day 5&6: Luodong, Yilan (Part I)
For our full trip itinerary, please click here.
Towards the end of our Taiwan Trip, we came to LuoDong, a township in the central part of Yilan County. LuoDong is famous for its beautiful landscape and various fairy tale like manor located along DongShan River.

It was a clear case of love at first sight when I first saw the pictures of the exterior of Rothenburg Lodge. At the same time, I was touched by the Mr Hsu’s determination and persistence in realizing his dreams. Having to spend all of his savings coupled with a multi million dollar loan, noone is supportive towards Mr. Hsu’s painstaking pursuit and he almost gave up. However, Mr. Hsu has decided to hang on to his dream and Lothenburg Lodge is opened after a construction period of more than four years!
Tudor-style architecture is just one feature making this B&B stand out from the rest. Built from solid genuine Cedarwood, there is a warming, grounding aroma throughout the house. Apart from that, the lodge itself is endowed with 82 tall trees that presents a magnificent view of the surrounding environment.
Since I am a connoisseur of (cheap) beautiful places to stay, I told KampungBoy that we are so going to spend a night at Rothenburg Lodge! From JiuFen, Mr Hsu dropped us at Rueifang Station where we boarded a train to LuoDong Station.

The train runs close to the ocean and the scenery along the Eastern Coast route is unsurpassed.

We reached LuoDong train station in less than 2 hours time. Mr Xu. from Rothenburg Lodge came to pick us up.

It’s late in the evening so we ended up mostly wandering around the beautiful B&B.

To be continued……

Hi,
I am going travelling to Rothenburg Lodge from Jiufen.
May I ask when you say “train”, does it mean the Taiwan Railway Administration? Is the Taiwan Main Station located in the same station as the Taipei Metro station?
Thanks lots!
