We finally made a visit to the hottest spot at Lalaport, BBCC KL – Matcha Eight that serves artisanal, premium and 100% natural Japanese tea ice cream made with the finest single-origin tea powder imported from Wazuka town, Kyoto, Japan. It is also with an exclusive partnership with Michelin-starred Master Chef Takuji Takahashi from Kyoto.
Matcha Eight offers matcha and sencha ice cream in 6 intensity level, and hojicha ice cream in 2 intensity level. It reminded us of Nanaya matcha ice cream from tokyo. For our 3 yo, we picked a mild sencha ice cream (lovesick girl no. 1) topped with red bean and mochi in cup for him. He loves it so much that he kept asking for more.
As for us, the more intense the better! The melodrama queen (no. 6) topped with sakura gold flakes is really pretty to look at. The flavour is on point too!
I took a cautious lick expecting bitterness, but was pleasantly surprised. The matcha flavour definitely hits you but the bitterness is quite mild given the intensity of the flavour. This is possible because Matcha Eight is using tea powder of superior grade. Visit https://matchaeight.com/ for more info!
Price range from RM13 – RM16 per scoop in a paper cup. Additional charges apply for toppings or cone.
