We had the best time in Yufuin, a popular hot spring resort area during our recent trip to Kyushu. One of the most recommended ryokans in Yufuin is Bettei Itsuki. However, it was fully booked even-though we tried making our reservation two months before. Bettei Itsuki is ranked as the top 10 ryokan in Yufuin in TripAdvisor. There are also many good reviews from both locals and foreign travellers.
Some of the main selling points are:
Great Location. Bettei Itsuki is located centrally located but has a quiet restful ambience as it is off the main road. From Yufuin station, a taxi ride will costs around 800 yen. There is also a free parking lot next to the ryokan. The happening Yunotsubo Street is only 5 minutes walk away, and Lake Kinrin 10 minutes walk away.
Attentive Services. The staffs are well trained, able to communicate in English and attentive. The also cater to guests with allergies with care. There is also a big fire place burning pine woods at the lobby. It gives their guest a good and welcoming feeling. Japanese are good in details and they manage to show it in every corners of the ryokan.
Private and Spacious Villas. There are only 13 independent villas in Bettei Itsuki and every villa comes with different design and layout. Each villa comes with , living room, bed room and garden. The villas are extremely child friendly, super specious and give a great sense of privacy. There is a bath with a source spring, so you can enjoy bath time as much as you like. The hotspring water quality in Yufuin is great, so you can immediately feel its benefit. Each of the villa has a name and layout which you can view from their website. 
Quality Food. One should book for a full board experience here at Bettei Itsuki in order to enjoy a delicious Japanese kaiseki for dinner and a western-style spread for breakfast. The in house restaurant uses the freshest seasonal ingredients, as well as harmony and balance, to create the perfect meal to appeal to all of the senses. Worth to highlight is all the food is nicely presented in Arita ware and Toyama glassware. The dining area is made up of semi-private rooms so that you can enjoy your meal at your own pace too!
