The highlight for the month for August is Arabic Delights. I felt like an Arabian princess indulging on a selection of decadent pastries being presented on an intricate silver tray.

Do expect to see some Middle Eastern classics such as Baklava – sweet pastry, Falafel – deep-fried patties with chickpeas, Kibbeh – deep-fried patties with onions and lamb, Hummus – dip made with mashed chickpeas, Mini Pies and Turkish Delights. This afternoon tea experience comes paired with free-flow of Moroccan Mint Tea. Refreshing!

Newens welcomed the month of July with a classic French Affair. A three-tiered cake stand is decked up with delectable pastries and desserts such as Croque-Madames, Wild Mushroom Vol-Au-Vents, Petit Fours and Egg and Tuna Croissants. This is accompanied by free-flow of Vanilla Tea.

I particularly enjoyed the savouries such as Croque-Madames and Wild Mushroom Vol-Au-Vents. Made in bite-size form, they were easy to eat and not too rich!

I was really excited to try the Malaysian Tea that will be available in the month of September, in conjunction with Malaysia Day on 16 September. The local favourites featured on the afternoon tea includes Pisang Goreng with ice cream, Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Roti Jala served with Chicken Curry. Tea is complemented by free-flow of Teh Tarik.

It is also my favourite set because every element was homemade in house at Enak Restaurant to a very high standard. The pisang goreng was crispy but not greasy, chicken satay was really flavourful and tender, chicken curry was delicious and the rich and creamy gravy went so well with roti jala. Even the teh tarik is one of the best I’ve had – smooth, creamy, frothy and not too sweet.

These thematic tea experiences are available throughout each respective month from 2.30pm to 5.30pm daily at MYR140 nett per set for two persons. For reservations and information on Newens Tea House, please contact +60 3 2719 8550, newens@ytlhotels.com.my or visit feastvillage.com.
