It’s only early December but we’ve been eagerly counting down to the days where the smell of roasting turkey and mulled wine permeates the air. Why, Christmas is, dare we say, everyone’s favourite time of the year!
Last week, we had the privilege of sampling the sumptuous festive menus offered by The Majestic Hotel KL. It was an evening filled with festive food, drinks and music.
Mulled wine makes me happy for many reasons, but mostly because it reminds me of our holidays and Christmas markets in Europe.
This year, we had the privilege to listen to The Solianos live (again). The Solianos are the only family in Malaysian show business who can claim a heritage of jazz that dates back into the nation’s history, thanks to Alfonso and Tony Soliano, who were living legends in their time.
I really love their versions of popular Christmas classics from their Christmas album last year. It will be playing on loop on my CD player until Christmas.
We started off with some warm and fluffy Hainanese buns, perfect with some great quality unsalted butter.
Amuse Bouche – Breaded Camembert Cheese with Blueberry Sauce
I love the way the rich flavor and texture of the Camembert is balanced with the slightly sweet yet tart acidity of blueberry sauce.
Soup – Cream of Watercress Soup with Lobster Meat
I love the delicate taste and beautiful green colour. The lobster meat was sweet, firm and succulent – done just right.
Mid Course – Roasted Sliced Whole Turkey
I’m not a big turkey fan, but I really enjoyed the sides of stuffed chestnut and buttered vegetables.
Main Course – Baked Honey Glazed Cod Fish with Butter Glazed Asparagus
This elegant cod dish is perfectly executed – moist, tender and flaky. Love the sweet and savory kick with a flavorful sauce of honey, garlic and soy sauce. My favourite dish of the night!
For dessert, we had the home made chocolate fudge cake with crispy brandy snaps, berry comport with vanilla bean ice cream. A deliciously chocolately treat for this festive season!
The Majestic Hotel KL is also dedicating this festive season to the some of the most incredible entertainers in the world namely Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford, better known as the rat pack.
The “Rat Pack” afternoon tea set is best suited for gentlemen because the set consists of some of the classic pub grubs in bite size portion, free flow coffee and tea, as well as a tankard of beer. My husband’s thing, totally.
You can also enjoy your afternoon while listening to some of the best classics such as “Fly Me To The Moon”, “The Lady Is A Tramp” and etc recorded by The Solianos.
The Christmas Eve menu that we sampled is available for RM 220 nett per pax/RM 320 nett per pax (with wine pairing)
