RM 499 nett for an array of all you can eat contemporary French cuisine with premium ingredients such as foie gras, lobster, caviar, wagyu beef, hokkaido scallops and etc, plus live DJ music, free flow wines, cocktails and champagne – sounds too good to be true?
It is taking place on every first Sunday of the month , from 12 noon to 3 pm until 3rd December 2017 at Lafite Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur.
The best thing is, most of the menu items are being prepared ale-minute by executive chef Olivier Piste and team.
Pistre is a French national with over 20 years of experience in the food and beverage industry and has won several prestigious industry awards including the Golden Trophy and Best Caterer title with his team at the International Catering Cup competition in Lyon, France, in 2015.
Feel free to order a second, third or even a fourth portion if you really enjoy having the dishes.
The buffet counter has a small selection of freshly shucked Cadoret oysters, cheese platters, desserts and small bites.
We started off with chef’s signature entree – gratinated lobster thermidor. It is actually a decent sized Canadian lobster that is being cut into half, stuffed with old-style mustard and oven baked for approximately 10 minutes. It was so delicious and a real treat; the flesh was so sweet and succulent.
We also had other decant entries such as a wooden spoon filled with caviar and foie gras, foie gras with apple rim, roasted and filled with cocoa (served with brioche), cherry tomatoes shooters and caprese salad.
Smoked Cohiba Grilled Wagyu Beef
The grilled Wagyu beef was cooked a la minute and smoked with Cohiba cigars. The beef was served on a bed of cauliflower puree, with lemon gel and oyster and seaweed emulsion on the side. Unfortunately, the wagyu beef was a tad too dry for our likings.
Seared Hokkaido Scallops
Served with artichoke veloute (thickened soup), the scallops were pan-seared to perfection. So good!
Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder
Served with red onions, parmeson gnocchi, pomegranate gel and lamb jus; the shoulder had an incredible flavour and amazing texture.
Grilled Octopus
The octopus were grilled and served with corn cream, Japanese black garlic puree and Provencal sauce vierge – a French sauce made from olive oil, lemon juice, chopped tomatoes, onions and garlic. It was an octo-splosion of tastes and textures!
Chocolate Surprise
For sweet ending, we had the Sable Breton Crumble (French shortbread cookie) with vanilla ice cream, chocolate ball, chocolate syphon, fresh blackberries and old chocolate sauce. Love how rich and chocolatey it was.
French Rum Baba – sponge cake soaked in rum syrup, topped with Chantilly cream, served with pistachio sponge, raspberries and raspberry gel.
The brunch is priced at RM499 per person and takes place every first Sunday of the month from noon to 3pm. The next brunch sessions will be on Sept 3, Oct 1, Nov 5 and Dec 3.
