Thick vermicelli (mi xian) with light broth is all the rage in Klang Valley right now. It’s not exactly a new concept. Most Chinese moms have been whipping up bowls after bowls of vermicelli soup all these years, but every household serves it with a different twist.
Hence, it is actually a good idea to re-introduce this much-loved taste of home in a more “refined” way.
Home Noodle at Paradigm Mall is our new favourite restaurant to go for their home made thick vermicelli and five interesting soup base – tomato soup, salted vegetables soup, tom yum soup, superior soup and pickled chili pepper soup.
We love the thick and frothy teh tarik here, with prominent tea taste and most importantly – not too sweet.
One can also order additional side dishes such as deep fried dumpling, deep fried bean curd skin, pork ball and etc.
Tomato Soup with Luncheon Meat & HOME porkballs
To order, choose your soup base and choose one of your main (RM 11.80 to RM 16.80). If you are feeling greedy/famished, feel free to add in more mains. I enjoyed having the tomato soup so much. Love the consistency, almost slightly thicker than tomato rasam but not as thick as a classic “westernised” tomato soup. In fact, this sweet and tangy soup is so inviting and flavourful that I licked the bowl clean. With great textures and flavours, their premium luncheon meats and home made porkballs are a cut above the rest too.
Salted Vegetables Soup with Fish Slices
This salted vegetables soup is flavoursome, hearty and not overly salty at all. It warmed my tummy and just tasted comforting.
Home Noodle serves good, honest food and friendly service at a very good price – no wonder if it is difficult to find an empty place there.
