February is a month of (CNY & birthday) celebrations and travels!
We were back to Ipoh on the third day of CNY. Here’s a impressive looking organic garden all done up by my lovely parents. How come I never inherit their green fingers?
Our BFFs also come to our place for some poker card games – still in CNY mood mah!
Finally we get to meet up with my high school BFF. We have decided to throw a small steamboat party at home.
I take pride in my chicken broth and DIY sauce bar. Food’s good, company’s good, what more could one ask for?
On the 11th day of CNY, we flew to Tokyo for a short trip.
We began the first leg of our trip in Kanagawa Prefecture. Located just south of Tokyo, this place is perfect for side trips from Tokyo.
Read more about our 3 days trip in Kanagawa Prefecture here – I can assure you that I’ve included all the important/relevant information.
On day 4 to day 6, we took our own sweet time to explore Tokyo.
This trip is all about eating – from gyukatsu, gyutan, tonkatsu to sushi, desserts, ramen and etc. Ichigo is in season too, so we have an average of 1 box everyday!
Stay tuned to our Tokyo travelogue! I promise that it will be out very soon!
Met up with the BFFs for some Japanese Bentos at Isetan the Japan Store one day after we came home.
Within the same week, we went back to Isetan the Japan Store to try out Sushi Azabu.
Hails from NYC and accorded with Michelin 1 Star, we had high expectations. Happy to say that we were not disappointed. Full review here.
February is also fourfeetnine’s birthday month!
Since her birthday is so close to Valentine’s Day, we threw her a Galen-tine’s themed party! Birthday girl was surprised because she thought that we were meeting up for CNY dinner.
These girls are precious #competitiveaunties
The #competitiveaunties also met up for a Sunday brunch at St Regis KL!
This has got to be one of the best brunches that I’ve ever been to! This epicurean French-Mediterranean Sunday Brunch at The Brasserie features poached Royal Alaskan King Crab, freshly shucked Fine de Claire oysters, high grade smoked salmon, pan fried foei gras, free flow of champagne…and the list goes on! What a great way to indulge on a Sunday afternoon!
Playing board game is also one of my February highlights ok? My life is boring like that. All thanks to Bobo and Michelle, we are now addicted to Catan. Hanging out with them is the best thing ever!
Hanging out at 1957 Kopi + Makan with YY was great fun too! So this deserves to be one of my highlights 🙂
Potluck party with my uni-mates is the best! Everyone can cook/know how to dabao the best food, seriously! Ate until my stomach is on the verge of bursting.
I miss my school days with these bunch of fun people. And now our group has two adorable babies to play with.
Last but not least, I started cooking again on the last day of February. I took a one month long break phewww. Bring the cooking mojo back please!
New Food Discoveries:
Golden Thai Seafood Restaurant
Together with Bobo, we organised a farewell dinner for our talent manager, YY who is leaving us soon! This thai restaurant located at Jalan Ipoh, next to the famous dim sum shop is our recent favourite. Must order their clear tomyam soup, som tam, grilled pork on skewers and fried omelette.
Address: 477, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Taman Million, 51200 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Phone: +60 16-666 7033
Hours: 4:30PM–2:30AM daily
Tonkatsu by Ma Maison (Publika/One Utama)
We are all familiar with the deep fried pork chop at Tonkatsu by Ma Maison, but have you tried their fried fish and oyster? It’s the bomb!
Seafood Night (every Friday and Saturday) at Lemon Garden, Shangri-la KL
Lemon Garden is still the front runner when it comes to buffet restaurants in town. The quality and selection is truly impressive. Though, unquestionably, the pièce de résistance is the seafood station, where you can load up on mouth-watering fresh seafood and sashimis! We practically ate to our heart’s content on the seafood dinner night.
