January is a busy month for us, because while that turkey leg is still digesting inside our stomachs, Chinese New Year is near approaching. Preparations for the New Year begin a couple of weeks before the big day for us. This is a fun time full of anticipation and joy as we get ready for the thrill and excitement of the celebrations.
We started the year right with home made breakfast.
On 4th of January, the BFFs gathered together to celebrate Ivy’s birthday at Hanaya Japanese Restaurant, Grand Millennium.
We spent almost every weekend at the mall, buying CNY goodies for friends and families.
I took some time to prep my face for the brand new year too. My aesthetic doctor came out and opened her own clinic at Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar. You can read all about my experience here.
I also invited some friends over for a mini baking session.
We made these rooster german cookies, cute ma? Recipe can be found here.
We also tried our hands at Jenny Bakery’s inspired butter cookies. I posted the recipe in dayre.
Coloured and trimmed my hair at none other than Number 76, Starhill Gallery in preparation for CNY. They have no CNY price increase at all!
The #competitiveaunties met up at Dolly Dim Sum and all of us were wearing Azorias‘s CNY collection!
We also attended 3 CNY review sessions – KL Hilton, Ritz Carlton and Shangri-La KL.
It is a pleasure to work closely together with my favourite clothing brand Love Bonito. We did a CNY giveaway for KBCG’s readers and she gets to choose a CNY outfit at the LB store in Mid Valley Megamall. So nice to meet you here 🙂
We took some photos for an Old Town White Coffee advertorial and this is one of my favourite pictures.
CNY Day 1 OOTD
We spent most of our CNYs in Kuala Terengganu and in Ipoh. Love the festive atmosphere in small towns like those.
CNY Day 2 OOTD
So happy to be able to meet up with the ex Leo girls too. Ipoh girls rock.
New Food Discovery:
#1: Cai Ji Steam Fish Head
For some strange reason, we ended up at Pudu’s Ring Road or Jalan Gelang one evening. It is also known as the red light district of KL. Cai Ji’s steamed Song fish head is really delicious, comes in big portion and priced reasonably. We love the salted fish pork belly claypot too!
A60 (Ground Floor), Jalan Gelang, Off Jalan Sg Besi, KL
Tel: 017-668 9129
Open: 10am to 3pm, 6pm to 9.30pm.
Closed on Monday.
#2 W Mart’s cheese tart
We usually get our frozen seafood and steak supplies from W Mart. After hearing good comments about their cheese tart, we bought some to try. It was really good! Priced at only RM 2.60 for one tart, it is brimming full with cheese and fresh blueberries (hidden inside).
#3 An Viet @ Sunway Pyramid
An Viet is a casual restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese street food and we love the concept of no food wastage. You can choose your own rice and noodles portion to avoid wastage. Everything that we tried were delicious and freshly made. Will definitely revisit!
