Damansara Height’s DC Mall is set to bring a new lease of life to the neighbourhood. 70% of its space is dedicated to F&B outlets and we have seen some interesting names such as Erawan and Royal Canton.
A visit to the mall last weekend bought us to Tiger Lily Thai Restaurant. The mall is still relatively quiet as many eateries are still undergoing renovation. However, if you happen around the vicinity, Tiger Lily is worth dropping by.
Tiger Lily is a pork-free Thai restaurant that serves up some really affordable and modern Thai fare.
This restaurant is both modern and elegantly designed, with much of its interior flaunting light wood furnitures, pastel coloured walls and bar chairs.
Some of the wooden tables were beautifully hand painted with very well detailed tiger and lily prints.
Thai Iced Tea and Three Layered Iced Coffee
Both drinks were not too sweet with great tea and coffee flavours.
Thai Red Curry Mee with Chicken (RM 9.90)
You don’t need to go all the way to Chiangmai for this popular Northern thai curry noodle dish. It is the only place I’ve found in KL that has a reliably good khao soi. Fresh condiments and good quality noodles round out the rich and thick curry gravy.
Thai Basil Spring Roll (RM 3.90)
We ordered the crispy spring rolls for an appetiser which were great & served with a sweet & sour sauce.
Assam Chili Prawn (RM 29.90)
Deep fried till crispy, the prawns were coated in a layer of caramelised, tangy and sweet gravy. It reminds me of my mum’s version a lot, which I really love.
Crispy Sotong (RM 18.90)
The sotong remained tender while the batter was crispy and deep fried to a golden perfection. They went really well with the chef’s home made chili sauce too. My only gripe was that the batter is a little too heavy for my likings.
Red Curry Prawn (RM 26.90)
The red curry is a marvellous aromatic mixture of freshly ground herbs and spices. We tried to refrain ourselves from having too much rice but the gravy is so good over some plain rice!
Tom Yam Seafood (RM 26.90)
Hot, fragrant and sour is how I like my tom yum. While Tiger Lily’s version is decent enough, it still lacks the arresting zing of the other versions.
Four Angled Beans with Peanuts (RM 9.90)
We really enjoy having this vegetable dish. Tossed in a thai inspired sauce and peanuts, the four angled beans still have a crunchy texture after cooking.
Thai Iced Tea in take away cup
KampungBoy loves the Thai Iced Tea so much that he had another one in a take away cup.
The Mango Sticky Ric e (RM 9.90)hits all the sweet, silky, creamy spots; just the way I like it. As for the Tub Tim Crob (RM 7), I absolutely love how the red rubies are crunchy and slightly chewy. The shaved ice with coconut milk is really smooth and fine too!
Tiger Lily is such a promising new restaurant, with quality food for a reasonable price. A corporate discount of 10% (for ala carte item) is also being offered to most the working crowds around DC Mall!
