There are times when you just need to get away and do nothing but relax, maybe read a book, take a long walk, fall asleep in an easy chair by the fire. No tours, no museums, no wondering where to eat each evening. Those are times when you need a change of scenery, when you want to be pampered, when you want to think about nothing but the next marvelous meal.
This calls for a weekend retreat at Avillion Port Dickson, a 5 star luxury hotel with water chalet, award-winning SPA facilities and more. It was such a wonderful experience that we wish we never had to leave.
We were booked into a premium water chalet, and I have to tell you that the little premium price is totally worth it. The Premium Water Chalet is furnished with Avillion’s signature 4-poster bed and a Pangkin daybed. The 4-poster bed is so huge that I can roll around without falling easily, and it is so comfy that I slept like a baby.
Our Premium Water Chalet is located furthest out to the sea and comes with a private balcony that offers spectacular sea view of the Strait of Malacca.
Here, one gets to take a refreshing shower under the open sky or a hot soak in the bath tub.
We rented a float from Sunny Beach Vibes to spice up our vacation pictures.
Avillion PD is quite busy on Saturdays, however the area around the water villa is really tranquil and peaceful.
There are a few hidden look out points located in different parts of the resort. A great place to just sit and mediate to the glorious sunsets in the far horizon.
There’s no lack of activities to do here too. One can enjoy the nature’s walk that cover the pet farm, ancients stairs, aviary, butterfly patch, orchid hut and spice farm.
Kid and even adults will enjoy the pet farm and activities such as feed a pet, touch a pet and bathe a pet.
Right in front of the bullock cart, one can enjoy Caklempong, a traditional Malay music instrument performance. Immerse yourself in the thumping rhythm of this local musical performance and experience the beauty of Negeri Sembilan’s culture.
The Village Pool is 1.2m deep and is set in the midst of the resort’s tropical greenery. This pool is open 24 hours daily.
A kids pool is with slides is adjacent to it.
Cochin Pool is a lap pool located at the Northern wing that is strictly for adults-only. Surrounded by day beds and sun lounges, it is really the perfect refuge for a tranquil afternoon.
However, floats are not allowed in this pool, so we used it as a photo taking prop.
The exclusive Avi Lounge is an iconic floating lounge with a modern looking facade, in contrast to the fishing village themed chalets.
The lounge is open for breakfast, sunset drinks and private events daily.
The signature oval shaped outdoor lounge with baby blue coloured cushions is a perfect photo spot. As the day winds down, you can grab a drink from the well-stocked bar and watch the waves roll in against the sunset.
We took the opportunity to take some instagram-worthy shots here.
Since its debut few years ago, Avi Spa has garnered acclaim and numerous awards from many leading travel, dining, spa and lifestyle publications.
That being said, you can’t leave Avillion PD before trying out Avi Spa. I’ve not had a good spa session like this for a very long time.
Avi Spa has their own custom-formulated spa product line too.
I really enjoyed the ginger and pandan flavoured tea here, great to eliminate the angin (wind) in my body.
Prior to our 1 hour massage session, we got to choose from 4 types of massage oil, each with a different function and scent.
Our sea-view therapy couple’s room is very spacious, clean and cozy. The one hour therapeutic massage penetrates deeply into my muscle to stretch out muscle fibres, such a great feeling as I can feel my knots being untied. Our masseurs are very well trained and experienced too.
We were being ushered to this private, sea fronting deck right after our massage session.
Of course, we just had to take lots of photos here.
After a massage, you will also be served with a hot ginger tea.
We felt like a million bucks after a great massage session and some time spent chilling at this beautiful deck.
In terms of dining options, there’s no lack of varieties at Avillion PD. Village Court is a casual pool side open concept restaurant.
Village Court serves around-the-clock, from buffet breakfast spread, appetizers and snacks to entrees, pastas, pizzas and local delights. I really love the nasi lemak and curry chicken here, best with the perfect soft-boiled eggs.
For dinner, we tried out The Verte, a beautiful standalone building nestled peacefully in the middle of a luscious green garden with a lookout facing the breathtaking Strait of Malacca.
They have a beautiful Herb Patio at the outdoor area, while the indoor area consists of The Bar and The Living Room.
We chose to be seated at the outdoor area and surprisingly there no mosquitos in sight!
We really enjoyed the Vietnamese stuffed chicken wing and ikan bakar here, so well prepared and delicious!
For lunch, we dined in at Crow’s Nest, a contemporary designed restaurant featuring special timber and rattan furniture with high teak wood ceiling.
The view from its balcony is amazing, overlooking the natural terrain of Avillion PD. One can opt for lunch buffet or just order from the Ala Carte memu here.
This sums up our relaxing 2D1N stay at Avillion PD. A short break at the resort is a great way to recharge the batteries and get away for a few days. One minor tips though: try to avoid checking in on Saturdays. This is because the resorts gets really busy on a Saturday, however as the crowd checks out on Sunday, we almost had the whole resort to ourselves.
