When we stepped into Favola and were greeted “Buona Sera”, it feels like we stepped into a real Italian restaurant located somewhere in Italy. Favola means fable in Italian. We love the rustic Italian setting with carnival masks adorning the walls, and we know that an elegant Italian meal is awaiting us.
Favola serves up a complimentary bread basket brimming with a variety of breads and good quality dippings. We need to be mindful not overstuffing ourselves with these pre-meal breads.
Chef Domenico from Sardinia has brought a breath of fresh air to Favola. We can’t wait to sample some of his signature regional Sardinian specialties, such as this beautiful Salmon and Seabass Carpaccio (RM 56)
The whole plate radiates with vibrant colors and bright flavors. The combination of salmon roe, hawaiian salt, toasted pinenuts, parsley sauce, micro cress salad and EVOO gave a light, fresh, clean and tasty sensation.
Porcini Mushroom Risotto with pan-seared escalope of duck foei gras, light jus (RM 87) is the reason for our multiple revisits. The combination of the creamy, cheesy risotto and the earthy mushroom makes for an awesome ensemble of flavors.
Just as you thought life’s good, something fatty and creamy slowly make it’s appearance into your palette. The pan-seared foie gras was done perfectly; I like the way it melts and carries flavor.
What is Sardinian food without a seafood dish right? We also had the divine Sardinian Mixed Seafood Pingadedda and Fregula, for 2 pax (RM 140).
The seafood stew was extremely briny and sweet in taste, and the seafoods were very tender and juicy. I also like the Fregula, a tiny pasta originating in Sardinia and similar to couscous. It gave a good bit of rustic character than other more refined pastas.
What is an Italian meal without tiramisu (RM 38). Favola’s version managed to win me over, with its perfectly moist, creamy mascarpone layer with a hint of coffee.
If you are feeling greedy, remember to order the Three Italian Delights (RM 38). You get the best of THREE worlds – tiramisu, panna cotta and chocolate mousse.
Indulge in an almond heaven with Bianco Mangiare (RM 30), made using almond milk cream and caramelised almond. The crunchy, slight saltiness of the almonds is a great contrast to the wobbly and soft almond layer.
Favola is one of our favourite restaurants listed inside the Entertainer app, with plenty of BUY 1 FREE 1 deals. Now you can purchase the app for only RM 130 by using code “2015KBCG” when checking out. Treat yourself to a lavish BUY 1 FREE 1 meal at Favola, Le Meridien Hotel.
