We were at the launch of OD last week. Astro’s chief executive officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan was delighted to introduce Astro’s new On Demand (OD) entertainment offering and additional video-on-demand content that allows customers to select content and instantly watch it on TV and devices.
There are 3 categories:
1. OD Free: Astro customers who connected their PVRs to their home WiFi will be able to enjoy their favourite shows for free. Download the latest season of popular TV series like Empire, Scandal, The Walking Dead, Heroes Reborn, Quantico, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Game of Thrones, The Blacklist, The Voice and many others – all at the same day as its US premiere.
They can also catch up on the latest episodes of local content like Akademi Fantasia, Classic Golden Melody etc.
2. OD Plus: Astro provides on-demand access to a superior library of movies, complete box-sets of TV series and children’s content, at just RM15.90/month.
Binge watch all your favourite series such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Flash, The Big Bang Theory and Hollywood blockbusters like the Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings series, or Korean TV series like Infinite Challenge, Just Married, etc at home or on the go.
Woohoo! All 8 films of the Harry Potter series?! I can foresee a Harry Potter Pyjamas Party at my place soon!
3. OD Store: Customers who wish to just select and pay for individual titles can take their pick and download the latest cinema releases across a wide range of vernacular and international languages, including Malay, Chinese and Indian.
Watch the latest cinema titles such as The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Inside Out and Fast & Furious 7 as well as Kapsul, Bravo 5, Jejak Warriors, Heart Attack and The Killer from as low as RM5.30
Other than TV, Astro on the Go (AOTG) service allows you to download your OD content onto your mobile devices now. This is a god-sent feature to us! We can pre-download all our favourite series and movies onto our mobile devices and watch it on a long haul flight. I always catch up on my movies to-do-list in a flight, now I don’t have to rely on the limited in flight entertainment anymore!
I can’t recall when is the last time we watch a movie in the cinema, or when do we really enjoy a good TV show. TVB drama: Captain of Destiny
I love to just stay home on a weekend afternoon, and watch all 5-6 episodes of a TV series instead of keep having to wait for the new episode. With OD, I can actually download the complete series (all episodes) and start to binge watching. Everything is in “MY TV”. I actually completed all 32 episodes Captain of Destiny ever two weekends. So syok!
