Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeeach was our third home away from home in #thisisqueensland. It is also my favourite hotel – who doesn’t love a Sofitel right? My superior ocean view room is spacious and uncluttered, with personal balcony overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
I really enjoyed the comfort of Sofitel MyBeds, a combination of a Mattress and a slatted Bed Base, a Featherbed, a Duvet, four Pillows and pure white or ivory cotton percale Linens for a soft and smooth comfort. Apart from that, there is also a pillow menu for hotel guests to choose from to ensure a restful night sleep.
The room includes an ensuite bathroom with seperate bath and shower and they use Lanvin’s toiletries! I felt like a French sofisticat with pampered hair and body perfection.
Whether for work or play, the Broadbeach is a great location to base yourself. It is just across the Gold Coast convention centre and a few tram rides away from the Surfer’s Paradise. The property is positioned in the centre of thriving Broadbeach, only 200 metres from patrolled beaches, beachside parks and an array of savvy shops, cafes and restaurants.

Since the Gold Coast is Famous for Fun, how could we leave without visiting one of their many famous theme parks?
Australia’s biggest theme park, Dreamworld is bursting with happiness boasting over 50 rides and attractions to suit everyone from toddlers to thrill seekers and beyond.
We started out mild by visiting the various characters from DreamWorks Experience, including Madagascar Madness, Shrek’s Faire Faire Away and Kung Fu Panda: Land of Awesomeness. Spot the beautiful Liz, a friendly and fun-filled local celebrity!
Me and Guan from China.
I like to move it, move it with my favourite characters from Madagascar!
Then we met native wildlife and experienced the world through indigenous eyes at Dreamworld Corroboree.
We also tried having aboriginal face painting on while saying “hi” by showing our palms. It was so fun getting to know some of them.
Next, we took a step back in time as the Dreamworld Insiders foil Goldie’s evil plan.
I was so busy capturing escaped prisoners in the Town of Gold Rush.
Are you ready for some thrill rides? Yes, but first let us cure our hunger pangs in Billabong Buffet Restaurant. I love the spread with amazing selection and great food quality.
We also got this express ticket on 1 selected ride. It is very useful especially on popular rides.
Famous for having the highest, fastest and most impressive rides in the country, Dreamworld is home to the BIG 9 Thrill Rides including the brand new Tail Spin, where the controls are in your hands.
Some of the rides that we conquered – The Claw, Tail Spin, Wipe Out and The Giant Drop, also the tallest, free-falling ride in the world. Come and challenge yourself here!

Since we had some time to kill before dinner, a few of us walked from Broadbeach to the Surfer’s Paradise.
As the name implies, the place was perfect for surfing. We are no surfers, but we still had fun having a quick dip and playing with the waves.
The organizers and Sofitel Gold Coast hosted the finale dinner and everything tasted so good – fresh, simple and wholesome seafood!
Surprising, the Malaysian team won something from the Queensland leg too! We got the third place, Indonesia came second while the Australian girls won!
Even though it’s fun to win, what matters most is sportsmanship, playing by the rules and being a good friend. I would like to thank Cynthia and Karri for painstakingly putting it (#escapers15) all together. Not forgetting the awesome ladies from Tourism of Queensland – Shelley, Jane, Vanessa, Amber and Lavender; Siew Yee and Karen from Accor Hotels as well as Karen from Scoot Airlines.
With these awesome peeps from Singapore, China, India and Australia team.
as well as Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Thailand team.
All of us got together for a reason, Towards the end of the dinner, most of us got teary-eyed that some of us will be leaving Gold Coast the next day.
We stopped by Burleigh Beach for a nice lunch before departing to the airport.
It is a beach that enjoys dual popularity with those who like to swim in her protected waters and those who love to surf around the headl
The Fish House is a highly rated restaurant it does live up to all expectations. The food was beautifully presented and tasted really good!
Our order of fish dishes were really fresh and delicious. The views looking over the ocean was fantastic too.
