Merry Fishmas from S.E.A Aquarium! As part of the month long celebrations and festivities in RWS, remember to watch out for Scuba Santa making an appearance in the habitat of S.E.A Aquarium. Children can also take part in the Christmas themed activities including an adventure trail for them!
The S.E.A Aquarium being home to thousands of fish and marine life, is one of the world’s largest aquariums.
Apart from discovering the wonders of the ocean, the Maritime Experiential Museum is a great learning experience. It is the only museum in Singapore where visitors can experience Asia’s rich maritime history and discover Singapore’s past as a trading port.
This trip back in time begins along the ancient Maritime Silk Route, which recreates the sights, sounds and scents of the bustling bazaars and where we can interact with the exhibits. We got to see a fascinating trove of precious artefacts from the Bakau shipwreck and Temasek archaeological site that can be found at the Maritime Archaeology Gallery.
There is also a life-sized ship replicas of Asian sailing vessels from the docks at the Historic Ship Harbour.
One of the highlights was this musical ensemble that features instruments that can be found at the various ports of call, like the sitar from India, santur from Iran and bongo drums from Kenya. Visitors can “play” and “mix and match” the instruments via a touchscreen panel, create a new tune, and send the tune via electronic mail.
We were in awe of the Shipwreck that greeted us at the entrance to the aquarium. There were many batfish, trivially (giant king fish) and pompanos here.
The floor aquarium allowed us to view the sea habitats up close.
I got to touch and learn more about sea starts and sea cucumbers at the Discovery Touch Pool.
The Open Gallery is the centerpiece of the Aquarium. At 36m wide and 8.3m tall, it is one of the world’s largest acrylic panels.
We spotted plenty of manta rays, leopard shark and grouper here.
The fresh water ecosystem in East Africa region is unique as it features the continent’s most biologicaly diverse areas.
Overall it was an amazing experience to see all the marine life up close, especially those that we have only seen or read from books. We also love the small platforms inside the aquarium where we can actually sit while observing the marine creature in vibrant colours.

This year, RWS is bringing back the Christmas cheers with a Snowy Chrsitmas celebration in Universal Studios Singapore. The following events are highly recommended by us:
1) watch the award winning Christmas-themed Sesame Street stage show – Sesame Street Saves Christmas
2) take a picture with Santa, Candy Cane and Elf as well as other characters decked out in Christmas outfits
3) catch the hourly snowfall every hour, everyday in Hollywood, New York and Sci-Fi City.
The theme park will also will decked out in tinsel and holly; transforming Universal Studios Singapore into Santa’s Land with extended hours until 9pm. The Christmas Fireworks Spectacular is also happening every Friday and Saturday for the month of December and with an additional snow on Christmas day.
In Universal Studios Singapore, there are 7 themed attractions with many rides and activities. One can sure spend one whole day here without feeling bored.
HOLLYWOOD
Feel like a hollywood star for a day by stepping into the center of the entertainment universe. We spotted many palm trees and the famous Walk of Fame here, it felt as though we have landed in the Hollywood Boulevard.
As we strolled down Sesame Street, we managed to catch the Sesame Street Saves Christmas stage production in the Pantages Hollywood Theater.
NEW YORK
Join us for an adventure in New York where the classic landmarks of NYC prevail – the city skylines, neon lights and facades that set the scenes for this big city. Not to be missed rides and attractions are the Lights!Camera!Acton!Hosted by Steven Spielberg and Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase. Lights!Camera!Acton!Hosted by Steven Spielberg is a great way to experience incredible special effects of hurricanes in the movie set. Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase is an indoor theme park ride to stop Macaroni the Merciless in his plot to steal all the spaghetti from Earth.
MADAGASCAR
We were so exceed to meet Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria in the Madagascar wonderland. We went onto the “Madagascar: A Crate Adventure” river boat ride with state-of-the-art animated figures and many other show-action effects, just like in the movie! Kids can go take the King Julien’s Beach Party Go Round.
FAR FAR AWAY
We were having fun exploring Shrek’s world in the far far away land. One can discover Shrek’s swamp house and stroll along Far Far Away’s glamorous Romeo Drive or sing along and even talk with Donkey in the Donkey LIVE interactive show. We enjoyed the Shrek 4D Adventure show so much. Through the 3D lenses, we saw, heard and felt all the actions in the show. Magic Potion Spin is a miniature ferris wheel for kids while the Enchanted Airway is a junior roller coaster ride serving destinations throughout the world of Shrek.
The Lost World
The Lost World is divided into two themed areas: Jurassic Park and Water World.
We took the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, never knowing that we were in for some surprises!
As you can see from the picture, we were tossed onto the waterways so everyone got wet! It was fun nonetheless.
The canopy flyer was great fun too. We got a prehistoric bird’s eye view of the Jurassic Park. Other rides and activities include the Dino Soarin, Amber Rock Climb and Water World.
ANCIENT EGYPT
Meet the mummies or Cleopatra in the ancient Egpyt world. We loved the Revenge of the Mummy ride, a high speed indoor roller coaster that navigates through sharp turns and fast reverses in total darkness. The Treasure Hunter is a vintage motor car ride through an abandoned excavation site.
SCI-FI CITY
Here we are at the city of the future. Tranformers The Ride was one of the major highlight of our trip to USS. The 3D thrill ride brought us to a world where DECEPTICONS invaded the NEST headquarter. We raced through the city, zipping through subway tunnels, down city streets and across high-rise rooftops. It felt as though we were in the movie. The Accelerator ride is a whirling twirling attraction that test your intergalactic stamina.
The Hollywood Dreams parade, which features amazingly detailed floats, special effects, a custom musical score and characters is a must watch too. Remember to get the daily time table once you enter the park.
Thank you Universal Studios Singapore for the wonderful memories and experiences. The enactments of various Hollywood TV and movie shows is definitely a plus point for movie buffs like us.
Apart from the many retail stores and dining options inside Universal Studios Singapore, there is also a Malaysian Food Street right outside the theme park. It is a perfect choice for those who crave Malaysian food. We enjoyed unique old-town ambience and various Malaysia’s finest and famous hawker fare.

ADVERTORIAL:
What’s the only way to make laying by the pool or on a beach, for that matter – taste even sweeter? Well, with a bottle of Strongbow, of course. We often associate Strongbow with beachside sipping without knowing that it is actually a very versatile drink – perfect to start the evening with or to sip on a hot sunny afternoon.
There’s even more flavours for us to experiment with now as Strongbow has just introduced three new variants – Strongbow Apple Ciders Gold, Strongbow Apple Ciders Honey and Strongbow Apple Ciders Elderflower.
Strongbow Apple Ciders Gold is slightly diferent from the original Strongbow. It has this unique and light aftertaste of bittersweet apples. The Gold apple cider has a warm golden
yellow hue with a pleasant dash of green apple note.
Just like its name, the Strongbow Apple Ciders Honey is a sweet and pleasant cider that delivers the saccharine aroma of honey. It comes with a unique golden bronze hue and ends with a refreshing hint of rhubarb for a fruity finish.
For something more floral, the Strongbow Apple Ciders Elderflower is a blend of elderflower and lime that captures the sweet floral aroma, along with hints of Muscat
and fresh litchi fruits. It has a distintive clear silver-white tint.
With more new variants available in the market now, Strongbow is perfect for all occasions especially throughout this festive season. Time to stock up on all three of them for Christmas and New Year!
