Cuti Cuti Malaysia with Great Hotel Deals!

Much as we love our city, there are times when we have just got to get out of town. The good news is that there are so many weekend getaway hot spots that are so near to the city via road trips or flying.

Being gluttons ourselves, two of our favourite destinations are:

    1) I-P-O-H

Plan B – one of the many “hipster cafes” in Ipoh

Just a two-hour drive up north from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, the capital city of Perak state, was once a booming tin mining town during the British colonial era. However, the collapse of tin prices and closure of tin mines in the late 1970s meant that the town lost some of its lustre over the years. Activities slowed down and migrants moved out, leaving behind grand old buildings – the clock tower, railway station, city hall and charming pre-war shop houses.

“Nga Choi Kai” Taugeh Chicken – one of the many famous delicacies in Ipoh

Today, Ipoh is best known for its hawker fare and local dishes as well as its heritage buildings and historical stories.

Apart from that, the wonderful wall art that started in Penang has also come to Ipoh as Ernest Zachaveric paints seven iconic murals in Ipoh’s Old Town.

There are plenty of accommodation choices in Ipoh too. M Boutique Hotel is Ipoh’s unique Boutique and Hotel, featuring an urban vintage design with a homely casual flair.

    2) P-E-N-A-N-G

    Clan Jetty

Penang is well known for its heritage as George Town is a Unesco World Heritage Site, and people take great pride in it.

Penang beaches are some of the loveliest in Malaysia. Sceneries along the beaches are simply beautiful. I love the fact that Penang embraces modernity while retaining its traditions and old world charm. Hence, it is fun to do cafe hopping, enjoying modern arts, shopping while being surrounded by heritage buildings and local people.

Penang is also a hawker paradise so a visit to this beautiful island means putting on a few pounds extra or else you have never been here. We often stuff our stomachs with a huge varieties of delicious and reasonably price hawker goods.

Georgetown, Penang, offers a great array of places to stay, from cheap backpacker haunts through to charming heritage hotels. One of our favorite place to stay is the Mango Tree Hideaway.
