Recently we have been exploring Taman Danau Desa area for food choices. From Japanese/Korean restaurants to inventive neighbourhood eateries and cozy little cafés, this area offers a diverse array of gastronomic options.
We found ourselves at Rayong Thai restaurant one night. It was entirely unplanned as the queue for Restaurant Seoul Korea (a few steps away from Rayong Thai restaurant) was unbearable. We were so glad that we made the right choice as Rayong Thai restaurant did not disappoint.
Much like its interior, the menu at Rayong Thai is small but compact, featuring mostly authentic and signature Thai dishes. We had some grilled chicken spicy salad to start and it was an awesome dish which whetted our appetite immensely. The chicken pieces were so well-marinated that you could taste the seasoning within every bite. Its sweet and salty flavours dovetailed the nutty, creamy, and spicy flavours of various Thai herbs and spices.
We also enjoyed having the pandan chicken as it was succulent and full of flavour. The pandan leaves kept the chicken juicy, imparting a subtle fragrant aroma when fried.
The seafood tomyam looked no different from what you’ll usually find on the streets of Bangkok. It was brimming with various ingredients but the soup was too sour for my liking.
Rayong Thai’s green curry chicken however, hit the spot! It tasted slightly tangy, creamy, sweetly sour, and coconut-y without being too spicy. It complemented our bowls of Thai Jasmine rice really well.
This delicious shrimp stir-fry brought together fresh, crunchy asparagus with succulent shrimp, stir-fried together in oyster sauce to make a great tasting combination.
Overall, we had a great meal in Rayong Thai restaurant. The food was genuine, whereas the tastes and flavours reminded me of my time in Thailand. Whenever there’s a Thai food craving, we will know where to go.
