This year, Volvo Trucks is celebrating its 80 years in Asia with ‘Perspectives of Progress’ which conveys Volvo’s dedication towards driving progress in Asia. This meaningful campaign is launched in association with National Geographic, and it brought to us breathtaking 360 panoramic views of various cities in Asia and inspiring stories of individuals who have driven progress in Asia.

I was in awe when I visited www.perspectivesofprogress.com, as one gets to enjoy a 360 panoramic views of the following major Asian cities:

    • Marina Bay skyline in Singapore
    • Mekong River in Laos
    • Wuhan
    • Shanghai
    • Seoul, South Korea
    • Kuala Lumpur

There were also three videos on three Asian personalities who are driving progress in Asia.

1)Sherilyn Lim – female mixed martial arts fighter in Singapore

2)Greig Craft – founder of Asia Injury Prevention Foundation who drives progress through safety in Thailand.

In 1999, Greig started a foundation that spearheaded a 1.9 million USD construction of a non-profit helmet factory, the world’s first of its kind. It all started with his fascination of how all across Southeast Asia, four or five members of the family ride together on one bike, often with disastrous consequences. That inspired him to make a difference and save lives.

Watch how he drives progress through safety.

3)Li Hu –  architect who drives progress through sustainable urban spaces in China

As a Malaysian who used to work in Singapore for the past three years, and travel to China & HK every quarter for business trip; I have to say that I have seen how Asia has progressed at a faster rate than other areas of the world. China, especially has seen its economy grew by the fastest pace in the past decade. However its rapid industrial growth continues to put unsustainable pressure on environment and from there, I have seen how China committed strongly to diversify its energy economy and reduce environmental problems via various subsidies and policies. One of the most remarkable improvement that I notice is the improvement in the quality of tap water as well as waste water treatment plant set up around industrial parks in China.

Apart from those interesting videos and inspiring stories, everyone stands a chance to win a VIP Weekend for 2 in Singapore to discover the centre of Asia through Volvo Trucks’ journey of progress. The winner will get to enjoy:
