I was pretty excited to attend the Expedia Partner Appreciation & Award event as honestly, I’ve been a user of Expedia for quite some time. It is a great opportunity to know more about the company and the dynamic team behind it. I saw some familiar faces there, mainly hoteliers as Expedia.com is celebrating its inaugural Partner Award Night in recognition of the exceptional engagement and marketing efforts across its partner channels.
Together with Vivy and Audrey, we were also having fun with the photobooth and travel theme related photo props.
These people from Expedia is very smart I tell you. They offered complimentary massage service prior to the event to remind us that we need a holiday. This massage was just what I needed to relieve the sore muscle knots that had built up from my workouts. Can someone please take me to Bali or Thailand?
To tempt us further, everyone gets to experience the Expedia Vacationizer – a travel mind reader which reveals your holiday destiny. It is very cool – by just wearing the Vacationizer helmet and staring into the screen running through different holiday destinations, the result shows that my dream destination is Tokyo! Hellow sushi, mt. fuji, Disneyland, Shibuya, sakura…..!!!
It is always great to know who are the masterminds behind a very successful business. Traci Mercer,Vice President of Market Management, Asia Pacific has great sense of humour. She shared some insights on the future of OTAs (online travel agencies) and how mobile booking is the new trend now. Expedia is also best known for bringing pioneering technology to the vast travel market.
AirAsiaExpedia’s CEO, Kathleen Tan is a social media champion with 300,000 followers in weibo. Her travel photos garner a lot of interest from the netizens and always bring immediate bookings. She’s definitely the perfect spokesperson for Expedia.
After the event, I went home and downloaded Expedia’s mobile application. Do you know that Expedia has exclusive deals only on the mobile platform? I love the clean and user friendly interface, very easy to navigate.
The mobile app allows user to locate and book a hotel room from the road for check-in at midnight the same night. How cool! Expedia also saw a 200% increase for hotel bookings this Valentine’s Day, especially after 10pm. What were you thinking? It makes sense to just spend a night in the hotel than getting stuck in a post V-Day traffic jam right?
We are also planning a trip to Boracay this quarter. The app is particularly useful when it comes to flight bookings and hotel bookings as Expedia is a one stop shop to plan your vacation. I love the sorting function as each of us has different priorities such as price, rating, etc.
The filter function is also very useful in narrowing down your selection.
I love the map feature as it allows me to see which are the resorts that are located along White Beach.
I found some pretty good deals from Expedia mobile app. This resort has got the right location and most importantly it is currently on sale!
