My annual trip to Singapore last month was a memorable one. Together with my parents, we took our own sweet time to explore the historic Katong area as well as the scenic East Coast Park. Feeling rather famished after cycling along the coastline that stretches over 15 km, we came back for dinner at Grand Mercure Roxy Singapore’s flagship restaurant – Breez Bistro.Bar.
Located on Level 4, guests have an option to dine at Breez Bistro.Bar’s indoor area of restaurant, lounge and bar or al- fresco by the swimming pool. We opted to dine at the restaurant area while having our desserts and coffee by the pool. The set dinner menu that features 4 courses with a complimentary glass of wine/mocktail/beer/fruit juice for only SGD 58 is good value for money.
We started off with some delightful light and puffy pita bread. It went really well with some extra virgin olive oil and chili flakes.
Appetizer: Prawn Cocktail
Who said prawn cocktails were boring! Refreshing nectarine, juicy prawns, crispy salad leaves and a spicy mayo make this simple stunner a winner!
Soup: Wild Mushroom Soup
We absolutely loved the wild mushroom soup! It was creamy and full with nutty, earthy, umami-rich flavor! I also liked how the chef included some diced mushrooms that provide some bites.
Main: Pan Seared Salmon (180g) with Mustard Sauce & Roasted Potatoes
The salmon steak was cooked to perfection – the top was slightly charred and the meat was still juicy and moist without any feeling of chalkiness or fibrousness. It went really well with the mustard sauce and the slightly sweet and tangy jam that came together.
Main: Grilled Rib Eye (180g), Wild Mushrooms Ragout & Roasted Potatoes
My order of grilled rib eye looked thick so I was a bit worried that the chef might overcooked it. But boy I was wrong as the steak was perfectly cooked edge to edge on the inside, tender and juicy with big bold beefy flavor.
Dessert: Warm Chocolate Brownies with Vanilla Ice Cream
A perfect dinner calls for a perfect sweet ending. We paired the warm chocolate browns with vanilla ice cream and reveled in the delicious hot-and-cold sensation.
Dinner at Breez Bistro.Bar exceeded our expectations in every way and was delicious as well as relaxed and perfect in every way. We were so glad that we chose to dine in instead of traveling far for dinner.
