La Boca Latino Bar @ Pavilion KL

    HGW-la boca
La Boca Latino Bar is one of the latest new restaurants in my favourite mall in town (i.e. Pavilion KL). I visited the restaurant twice during last week and was very impressed. The main entrance looks bright and cheerful with colourful murals on practically every wall in the restaurant. The murals feature colourful, mismatched houses and depict La Boca, a colourful seaport town in Buenos Aires, Argentina that is home to immigrants and artisans.

We also enjoyed flipping through the newspaper-like menu “Hola Kuala Lumpur” that features Tex-Mex favourites alongside authentic offerings from Central and South America.

We started off with some nachos rancheros (RM26) with extra topping of minced beef (RM5). From the salsa to the guacamole, the beans to the sour cream, these nachos were really addictive in the best way possible! Even the chips were good and did not get soggy.

Take a break from the usual fried chicken wings with this delicious, sweet and sticky BBQ sauce glazed chicken wings aka corcovado chicken wings (RM 18). They went really well with the sour cream and vanished into our bellies within seconds.

La Boca is well known for their fajitas – they claim to serve the best version in KL. Our fajita pollo brasa (RM31) came with strips of chicken breast, coriander, lime, paprika, cumins, onions and pepper on a sizzling hot plate. It was so simple but very well done with lots of flavour. It came with guacamole, sour cream and pico de gallo on the side, and warm tortillas in a little basket.

La Boca also takes pride in their oven-baked pizza with Latin American flavours. However, we found them decent enough but nothing to shout about.

Every night, La Boca also becomes a showcase for Latin American culture – from Argentine tango to live Cuban music and salsa dancing. With authentic Latin American dishes, awesome Latin music, attentive service and great parties, what’s not to like about this place?
