Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar @ Mid Valley

Klang Valley welcomes Fresca Mexican Kitchen & Bar and its fresh Tex-Mex flavor to our delicious food scene! Fresca means “cool” or “fresh” and the idea came about by two adventure-seeking siblings who fell in love with Mexican food. The food served here specialises in “botanas”, which means small appetiser plates.

Fresca’s authentic Mexican receipes are prepared from scratch daily with only the freshest ingredientes. They have about 10 variants of chilies here and most of them are imported directly from Mexico.

The place looks cool, thought out, filled with cool lighting, colourful patterned tiled floor and rustic woods. I can imagine this place to be filled with office crowds grabbing some drinks and small bites after work on weeknights.

Patrons can also opt to soak up some sun rays with some alfresco dining here.

We love Fresca’s non-alcoholic flavoured coolers. They have Aguas Fresca (“fresh water”), Tamarindo made from tamarind fruit and  Hibiscus made from dried hibiscus flower. They were all right on target – something cool, refreshing, not a mojito, and slightly sweet.

Chips N Dips – tortilla chips with freshly made pico de gallo and guacamole dips.

The guacamole was so creamy and so chunky. Made of freshly chopped tomato, white onion, coriander and chilis; the pico de gallo had a clean flavour and it was really good. The tortilla chips were made fresh right there and served warm.

We tried the Tacos Ensenada – soft flour tortillas filled with battered fish and homemade coleslaw, topped with Chipotle Chile salsa and pico de gallo. It was crispy, greaseless and light. Remember to eat them quick because the corn tortillas will fall apart from the mouthwatering juices in the fish.

Sopa de Tortilla – chicken-based broth flavoured with Guajillo Chile, and garnished with fresh avocado, Ancho Chile, crumbly Feta and golden tortillas strips.

It has delicious chicken breast, hearty beans and flavorful corn all in one soup. It was so hearty, deliciously spicy and full of flavour. The creamy texture of Feta cheese topped with crunchy corn tortilla strips was a great move.

Pollo a la Parilla – grilled chicken on a sizzling plate on our house special coffee marinade, served with Mexican green rice and Arbol Chile salsa.

This chicken dish is one of my favourite Mexican dishes. The chicken strips were so juicy and tender, and the coffee marinade gave it a (surprisingly) nice bitter aftertaste.

Flan de la casa – traditional Mexican creme caramel.

I like the food at Fresca and fortunately the pricing here is pretty reasonable. They have a large selection of Mexican dishes for one to choose from and it is a great place to go whenever that Tex-Mex food cravings hit. If you are interested in trying out this restaurant, then I have some good news for you.
