Today I finally have time to sit down and talk about our wonderful trip to Taiwan last month. We had so much fun, especially with our old and new found Taiwanese friends.
Upon arrival, we boarded into GuaGuang bus 国光客运 which took us to Nanjing E. Road. The buses depart approximately every 20-25 minutes and we presented our bus vouchers when board. These bus vouchers can be obtained from Taiwan Visitors Association located at Wisma Gold Hill Kuala Lumpur. Taoyuan Airport – Taipei transport information here.

We got a decent shut eye and within 45 minutes, we reached our destination – Nanjing E. Road subway station. We will be staying at Hotel Quote which is conveniently across the Taipei Arena, Ikea, Momo Department Store and ZhongXiao East area. It is also within 5 minutes walk to the Nanjing E. Road subway station.
Hotel Quote is a nice low key hotel; we almost overlooked the small hotel signage as we walked along Nanjing E. Road. Just remember that it is located right next to Momo Department Store.
Hotel Quote’s entrance is sophisticated yet unpretentious. The dim lighting and dark-metallic interior houses a chic bar. The floor area turned into a modern club with DJs spinning at night.
The receptionists were extremely knowledgable and helpful. They even offered us ‘liang cha’ (Chinese herbal tea) for a hot summer day.
breath mints anyone?
Hotel Quote Taipei is part of SLH, which holds an unrivalled portfolio of some of the world’s finest small luxury independent hotels. Strict controls are applied to ensure that only the very best hotels with the highest standards are accepted into the brand, thus ensuring that the quality of the experience that guests receive is consistent across all SLH properties. We have been staying at a few SLH properties in Malaysia and Thailand, they have never let us down before!
When checking in one of the receptionist took us to our room explaining all the facilities. Nice gesture!
We were allocated into Room ‘O’, a 33 square meter room with king size bed. The room was dim and modern, with small elegant touches which contribute greatly to the atmosphere. See those translucent glasses seperating the toilet and the room? Cool concept!
We really appreciate the ultra comfortable king size bed that make us want to sleep until the next day. We love the quality bed linen too – so soft and comfortable!
Every business travel friendly hotel room features a well-lit work desk, Hotel Quote is no exception. Not to forget the quintessential ADSL and wireless Internet.
The bathroom is very large, and both the bath tub and the shower are wonderful and relaxing.
Hotel Quote uses Damana Neroli toiletries which I really fancy. Damana Neroli’s range of toiletries is enriched with herbal extracts and subtle perfumes with natural scents.
Don’t forget to take a well-deserved soak in the oversized bathtub while watching a movie on the LCD TV. If you are traveling with friends and needing some privacies, there is an automated button to press to pull down the blind.
The toilet is fully automatic with a robust auto sensor system. The seat covers that open automatically as you approach, impressive!
It’s always the little things that make an experience special – room guests get free minibar restocked daily with snacks and beverages. Apart from that, there is a Nespresso coffee maker and coffee capsules for us to get an immediate coffee fix.
We also make full use of the uber cool Bose digital stereo system with iPod dock which delivers clear, concise in-room sound from our playlists.
The hotel is running full during our stay there, hence we could not be accommodated in the Level 2 breakfast area and had to have breakfast in Bar 333.
Breakfast selection was limited, but the food quality was above average.
Hotel Quote is a real unique and stylish hotel. There really is nothing to pick fault with. The rooms were excellent with free mini bar, coffee machine and iPod docking. The hotel staffs were extremely helpful. Guests have free unlimited access to H.Q. Lounge stocked with beverages, fruits, and snacks that are readily available 24-hours. There’s even Osim leg massager upon request at no extra charges. There was everything we needed and lots of little touches to make us feel like home.

Hi, read your blog. Awesome pictures of the hotel….but it is a bit too pricey for me and family. May I ask what are those bus vouchers that one can get from Wisma Goldhill. Are they complimentary travel vouchers (free rides) offered by the Taiwan Visitors Assoc.? Can we use them anywhere?
hi Peter it’s only for airport shuttle. the free gifts varies from time to time, sometimes its free metro card. you can go to wisma goldhill to check
Hi, thanks for the reply. Btw, how do I address you although I know you don’t mind me calling you kampungboy. I’m a kampungboy myself..haha! Grew up playing with fighting spiders, flying kites, climbing coconut trees, catching fishes in the rivers and lakes etc.
When you say airport shuttle, do you mean it is only for shuttles within the airport. Anyway, this is very useful information and I will go to Wisma Goldhill to check it out. Thanks for generously posting all these. It really helps….especially for those who are going to Taiwan for the first time. Cheers!
hi you can just call me kampungboy as I grew up playing the same thing as you haha.
yeah only for airport transfers. you should go, there’s a lot of useful brochures there
