Benjaming Yong has done it again, Ben’s General Food Store being his latest venture replicating the success of For Goodness Sake, Ben’s, Canoodling, Plan B & T Forty Two.
Occupying almost one third of the menu, Ben’s General Food Store specializes in both sweet and savoury wood-fire pizzas. The simple one page menu also features salads, hot deli item and some dessert selection.
This cafeteria-like eatery is stunning in every way. The space is simple and clean, with long communal tables, metal chair and vintage(y) milk cartons that remind me of my old school days.
Pizza is No. 1 word search in Google? Is it? Look up and you can see puns, and witty quotes adorning the chalk boards.
Apple Crumble recipe for your perusal 🙂
B.I.G Lasagna (RM 18.90). It was huge indeed, with cheese and minced meat layered between lasagna cheese and drenched with a delicious pasta sauce. What an ultimate comfort food.
Every order of hot deli item comes with a side of salad. We chose the pineapple and codfish salad, but it was really bland
Salami Pizza (RM 19.90). It was great. The tomato sauce is neither too sweet nor acidic, the salami has a decent kick and the mozarella is served in a generous manner.
We were stuffed to the brim, but could not resist having something sweet. The carrot cake (RM 9.90) was dry and crumbly, which was disappointing.
There were hits & misses from the menu but Ben’s General Food Store is such a charming price that serves up simple, hearty fare with a decent price tag.

Have you tried their breakfasts? I wasn’t so keen on their breakfast pizzas, but some other dishes looked good like the French toast. Wondering if anyone has tried it?

i went to the one at ben’s publika – was an extremely STRESSFUL unsatisfying meal 🙁
not worth it at all! long story short, the wait staff was extremely rude and arrogant , and we received zero service level
can get better service at mamak! definitely not worth going at all – after all, a meal experience should be equally good service + good food……..
Ah? Last 2 weeks ago had my Lamb Shank and 2nd week had BIG Lasagna at Publika. Service was OK to me. Not too bad, not too great either.
Hye, i juz want to ask.. Is this restaurant serve halal food?
Hi Amalina, I belive that it’s pork free
