Together with AiWei and a girlfriend, we had a great weekend at GTower Hotel, thanks to the hotel management and VK for extending the invitation. We were also given the privilege to dine at Trattoria Tanzini, an elegant Italian restaurant that occupies the 28th and 29th floor. If it’s the perfect view that makes you feel romantic, you can do no better than Tanzini that overlooks the city skyline.
Tanzini is fine dining in every sense of the word, with its sleek styling and its menu crafted for multicourse dining.
Every bit of the interior deco spells chic such as the modern dining chair with top grain leather upholstering, elegant dining room furniture and other contemporary furniture pieces.
The restaurant was quiet when we got there at 7pm but the staff were highly occupied with a good crowd as patrons start to pour in as the night goes.
Before-Dinner-Cocktail: Lychee Martini, Apple Martini, Mojito
delicious, potent cocktails make the ladies happy
The complementary bread that came with the meal was a great start to our meal. I really appreciate the extra effort and care that a restauranteur put into these “free” unassuming bread, much to the joy of patrons.
Earthy and satisfying, the crispy mushroom focaccia bread was a big hit around our table.
Tanzini Antipasti Tower (RM 50) serve 2 – 3 pax
With a little taste of everything, our antipasti choice was obvious. It was presented in a spectacular three tiered platter featuring the freshest antipasti delights.
Grilled Jade Perch Fish Fillet (RM 38)
Aiwei’s main was the organic Jade Perch served with herbs, capers, potatoes, cherry tomatoes & asparagus. She loves it; the skin was slightly charred and crispy while the flesh was bursting with fresh, delicious flavors.
Tanzini Tiger Prawn Vongole (RM 38), grilled tiger prawn & clams with “Tau Miu‟ sprouts served aglio olio.
The tiger prawn and clams were fresh, juicy and succulent but the “tau miu’ imparted a distinctive green taste to the pasta, in a weird way.
Agnello Milanese (RM 46), cutlets of Australian lamb grilled served with olives, eggplant & sun baked tomatoes.
The grilled lamb cutlets were done just right, without requiring much chewing action. However, we thought that the taste combination was too “ordinary”, would expect something more “extraordinary”.
Coconut Panna Cotta (RM18), served with raspberry sorbet and orange candy.
It was gorgeously, tremblingly wobbly, with a creamy and smooth texture. We enjoyed the dessert till the last mouthful and it leaves us longing for more.
Chocolate Pot (RM20), an indulgent chocolate pot, infused with orange zest, served with handmade almond biscotti
Rich and divinely decadent, the chocolate pot was a perfect ending to our meal. I like how the orange zest gives the chocolate sauce a light citrusy taste, and I also love the fact that the chocolate sauce was not too sweet. Break the biscotti into half, dip it halfway into the chocolate, and voila! You have a treat that looks and tastes like heaven!
Pavlova slow-baked meringue (RM16) with summer berries, crème anglaise & bittersweet chocolate
Pavlova or meringue? It tastes more like pavlova for me. It felt so light and almost cotton-candyish. Served together with slightly sour berries and bittersweet chocolate sauce, it was a real treat.
Tiramisu A Pezzi (RM26) with freshly Lavazza toasted coffee bean (2 pax)
I love the food presentation! It was served on top of an elegant glass ware filled with shaved ice to keep it cool. The mascarpone cream was right on – not too sweet, rich, creamy. The lady fingers were soaked perfectly and the coffee liquor kick was strong enough.
yummy desserts make the ladies happy
We proceeded upstairs after our meal, and before our food coma hits.
Looking at the beautiful illuminated city high-rise buildings always inspire me in some way. 🙂
With sleek interiors, a sexy atmosphere, and a menu offering unique Italian dishes with some Asian twist, Tanzini is a perfect spot for any dining occasion. While we thought that our starters and mains were rather ordinary, the desserts and the view are to die for! We believe that Tanzini will appeal to those who are seeking for a casual, hip and upbeat venue with affordable fare. Our mains cost less than RM 50 on average, unless you are looking to indulge on treats like wagyu and lobster.
