“fishy” business making big bucks – second branch already!
Good news for PJ folks! No need to travel that extra miles to Rawang for that utterly delicious steamed tilapia fish anymore because the very exclusive Lan Jie Steamed Fish can now be found at Kota Damansara!
ears burning, sweat forming spicy version that motormouth recommended
Almost everyone in the restaurant was having a whole fish to themselves, hence we follow suit (RM 14 – RM 18, varies according to size). There is only one style of cooking for the tilapia fishes, but one can choose from the level of spiciness – non spicy, mild, spicy and ears burning, sweat forming spicy which is basically no chili padi, very little chili padi, plenty of chili padi and a very generous sprinkling of cili padi. That’s the difference!
Topped with dashes of soy sauce, chili bean paste sauce, diced garlic, shredded ginger, chili padi, it encompass all the intense natural flavor of the tilapia fish. We also like the fact that the fishes were steamed just right, resulting in a sweetish, smooth and velvety flesh. As much as we enjoyed our steamed fish immensely, we were sweating buckets for being over ambitious by asking for the very spicy version.
The tofu dish was just passable.
Right after Kota Damansara’s KFC drive through and Mcdonalds drive through, you will notice rows of new shop lots on your left. Turn in and look for Gulam Mee (corner lot with bright neon sign board). Lan Je is just behind Gulam Mee. Tips from boolicious (thanks girl!): remember to make a reservation beforehand as the fishes may run out in a jiffy!

This place is getting loads of publicity once opened at this branch! Aww, I have yet to go!
Just by looking at the photos, I can already feel the heat!! Must go check this place out…since so many of you said it’s good…
I’m so there…. now I only have to find the right time
hahaha .. the ginger+cili padi combination rather lethal eh?
least people dont need to jam to Rawang, sweat buckets waiting for a seat, then wait in line for a plain steamed tilapia ….
Thanks for sharing that lovely fish.
I am a Malaysian living abroad so I always crave Malaysian food. Your blog satisfies my cravings LoL just by looking at the pictures.
=.=|| So much people when going there during weekends. I get squeezed out by the crowds (families mostly).
they have outlet in balakong right???
I was brought to the Rawang restaurant by my son-in-law and we found a table easily but you must reach there best before 12 noon. About 10 – 20 minutes later, all empty tables were filled. My son-in-law said he had tried the restaurant at Kota Damansara and there certainly was a difference between these 2 places. He said the fish at Kota Damansara were not as fresh as those in Rawang and people who had eaten the fish in both places would rather go back to Rawang. I couldn’t give my own comment as this was the first time I’d eaten this fish and it was real fresh and quite big. I had to ask my daughter and son-in-law to help me finish it ( he ordered one fish per head ). It was yummy!!!!
I like to go to Rawang restaurens….somemore one order one fish…I remember I go with my relative before, then we other 12 of fish~so cool~
