Ipoh is as great as ever, with the friendly folks and nicest food. It has been a blast getting in touch with old buddies and I’m so glad that I get to meet up with Joanne – the Merdeka baby for her birthday.
Her 21st birthday this year carries special meaning to her as she was among 12 international students invited to the prime minister’s residence for being named a finalist of the British Council’s International Student Awards. She gets to meet Tony Blair in person and had some conversation with Blair!
In her winning entry entitled “Letter Home”, Li Shen had described in her essay how she qualified in First Aid and worked as a medical secretary in an antenatal clinic while studying for her degree in the college.
Gosh, her parents, her former teachers, her friends, the whole Ipoh is so proud of her!
Haha, enough story about this Ipoh girl. Let’s back back to the food that we had on her birthday lunch.
Pineapple fried rice – This is so good that we help ourselves with a second serving.
Sizzling Black Pepper Venison – I used to think that venison and ostrich meat are unchewable due the lower content of fat. This proves me wrong as the venison are tender and juicy.
Butter crab – You can’t go wrong with butter prawns as it is equally appealing to anyone!
Spinach tofu – The tofu is green in colour and it doesnt taste spinacy at all, it just tastes ermmm…normal.
Joanne and her bubbly friends. Happy Birthday Jo and wishing you best of luck in all your future undertakings!
