Restoran Makanan Laut Lau Heong @ Bandar Baru Sentul

This place is truly a hidden gem located in a quite residential area at Bandar Sentul Baru! KambungBoy’s second elder sister and her hubby brought us here last weekend. They used to work around this area and had been drop by this place regularly before they shifted to Kedah.

It’s not hard to notice what is their signature or famous dish. Patrons from different tables ordered the same dish basically. However, getting here is a big headache for us! Thanks to the advanced search engine today, I found a blog which stated the direction to this place precisely!

    How to get there?

Take the Pahang roundabout, go towards Setapak. You will see Tawakal Hospital on your left. Go straight. Keep left. On your left, you will pass by a Chinese School, Mc Donald’s and a Shell petrol Station. Immediately after the McD’s, look out for a sign board – Jalan Sentul. Turn left into Jalan Sentul till you reach a traffic light. You will see a mosque on your left. At the traffic lights, go straight for about 20 seconds, look out for the signboard – JALAN SEHALA, turn into the road, find parking, either near the dumpster or further up.

    Thanks Gina for your direction!

This is heavenly~! The sze chuan sauce is aromatic, with the right touch of spiciness. The sting ray must be fresh to be steamed in this way.

Siong Tong LaLa (Clam Soup with Shao Xing Wine) – The freshness of clams brings out the sweetness of the soup. They added the right amount of shao xing wine, shredded ginger and wolf berry. I can’t stop sipping the soup!

Sizzling Calamaris served on a hot plate. Again the sauce is the soul of the dish. I’m not sure what kind of sauce is this. The texture is like curry but the taste are totally different from curry. Excellent Dish!

Another signature dish would be Nam Yu Fried Chicken (Fried Chicken with Fermented Bean Curd). Fermented Bean Curd is an ACQUIRED TASTE, either you love it or you hate it. I think most Chinese would love it if they used to take it during childhood. FU Yu Yao Mak is equally good with the aromatic (or pungent) smell?

Highly recommended for epicurians like us! Total bill came about RM 80 for 6 people so the price is pretty reasonable. With the direction given, you have no excuse for not going to Lau Heong to try out their excellent dish.
