Patisserie Boutique @ Ipoh, Perak

There’s no lack of good food in Ipoh, once a sleeping mining town. Apart from the usual taugeh chicken rice, curry noodles, tau fu fa, dim sum and nasi ganja; the recent boom of cafes in Ipoh offer us plenty dining options.

One of my favourite cafes in Ipoh is Patisserie Boutique located right next to Burps & Giggles and behind the famous Sekeping Kong Heng hotel. In terms of ambiance, I love the black and white Parisian theme with signs of Eiffel tower here and there. The hanging plants and potted flowers at the outside of the cafe reminds me of Paris in the summer too.

They don’t serve ordinary cakes/desserts here; the co-owner Nicole is very passionate about pastries and desserts. If you follow them on instagram (@patisserie.boutique), you will be able to see seasonal cake creation such as sea salt chocolate cheesecake, hazelnut matcha cake, matcha lychee chantilly, chocolate chestnut cake and etc.

They stock my favourite LLB (RM 10) here. So refreshing on a scorching hot day!

Same goes to the Iced Lemon Tea (RM 10), I like how they use ice lemon tea cube instead of the normal ice cube. My drinks stayed flavourful even after all the ice melted.

The Cappuccino (RM 9) was decent but nothing to shout about.

The Iced Earl Grey Latte (RM 11) is a classic reinvention of my favourite latte and earl grey. Love the subtle hints of tea flavour together with steamed milk.

Jacket Potatoes is a specialty here, with 5 interesting flavours such as pesto chicken, baked bean and cheese. We tried the Prawn & Kimchi Jacket Potato (RM 20). Try spotting the jacket potatoes, because it came with a generous amount of prawns and kimchi. Love the combination of flavours and textures, the potatoes were crispy on the outside and velvety soft in the middle.

Smoked Salmon, Omelet & Cheese on Multigrain Bread (RM 16)

This decadent sandwich would be perfect for brunch. Rich smoked salmon and soft, smooth omelette make the perfect pair.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken Breast on Croissant (RM 16)

We enjoy these sandwiches with their tangy honey-mustard sauce. The chicken breast remained juicy and tender too.

    Seafood Pasta (RM 29)

Seafood lovers will definitely love this pasta dish. Aglio olio is such a simple pasta dish, but pack a punch in terms of flavours.

Crab Claw Rose Sauce Pasta (RM 29)

I love pasta. I especially love creamy pastas. My cream of choice is rosé sauce! There is just something about the combination of tomatoes with cream that just creates fireworks when they come together. It came with a generous serving of crab claw and shrimps too.

For desserts, we had these little waffle baskets topped with fresh cream and berries.

KampungBoy really loved the Caramelised Pistachio Cheesecake and told me that he doesn’t mind having this for his birthday =.=|

It was indeed very good, the cheesecake was a contrast of creamy cheese and crunchy pistachio layer.

I love the Dutch baby pancakes in Patisserie Boutique. It was amazingly puffy, Nicole kept the classic lemon flavor in tact but dresses it up with vibrant blueberries and vanilla ice cream. So yum!

Overall, we had a great brunch experience at Patisserie Boutique. I can’t wait to go back to try more of Nicole’s dessert creation. Thanks for having us once again.
