Pudu is an old area in KL that is full of hidden gems and Em by Tedboy is one of those cafes. It is the sister cafe of Tedboy Bakery in Bangsar, created with Mathilda, the owner’s second children in mind.
Located inside Hotel Transit, this cafe is not known to many (yet). I like how I can slow down and enjoy a bit of quiet time here, a huge contrast to the busy foot and car traffic out there as the hotel is within walking distance to the Pudu Raya station.
This quaint little cafe has captured the hearts of many travellers, as we can see from the huge polaroid collections being plastered over a huge world map canvas inside the cafe.
Famous for their wholesome meals and home made pastries, Em by Tedboy offers a quiet space in KL to look through a travel book, flip through a magazine, or finish up your novel.
The semi outdoor area receives plenty of sun light, while the cement flooring and exposed steel beams give it a “natural” industrial vibe.
As we took the stairs up, we were being greeted by this green oasis.
It seems like a sunny spot for me to spend a good afternoon here.
THE REALLY BIG BREAKFAST – scrambled eggs, turkey ham, chicken sausages, sautéed mushrooms, hash brown, baked beans and cherry tomatoes (RM26)
I’m not a big fan of big breakfast but Em’s version was really substantial and filling.
SO GOOD GRILLED CHICKEN BAGEL – lemongrass infused grilled chicken and lettuce on a toasted cream cheese bagel, served with fries (RM 20).
I love the Asian twist to this classic american breakfast. The lemongrass infused grilled chicken was quite juicy and the bagel was delicious and chewy, just like real old-school bagels.
TUNA MELT BAGEL – tuna chunks in light mayonnaise filled with chopped tomatoes and celery, served with homemade bagel, fries and lots of melted cheddar cheese (RM 20)
The tuna melt bagel got to be my favourite breakfast item in Em by Tedboy. It was soft and warm inside and crusty on the outside with warm melted cheese and lots of tuna. So good!
Pan Seared Salmon with Mango Salsa
To me, a piece of salmon without crispy skin is like a cake without any frosting, and I like how Em by Tedboy prepares their salmon. We really liked the refreshing mango and avocado salsa too. The salmon stands up nicely to the spicy sweetness of the tropical salsa.
CINNAMON FRENCH TOAST – classic French toast with eggs, cinnamon and fruits (RM15)
The french toast was done perfectly too – lightly crisp and golden on the outside, light and custardy on the inside. I enjoyed having it with plenty of nutella drizzle.
