Last Saturday, KampungBoy and I went out for a special date night. We were at the GUINNESS Amplify Live Tour at The Bee, Publika. To be frank, we are not a popstar fan, letting alone spending a big sum of money on concert tickets.
However, the GUINNESS Amplify Live Tour is really our cup of tea as we get to enjoy a night of incredible music from the talented, dedicated, and passionate artists selected to be part of the new GUINNESS® Amplify: Music Made of More campaign-a brand new music platform from Guinness. Admission is free and everyone gets to enjoy all-night-long special promos on GUINNESS Draught and GUINNESS Foreign Extra Stout.
The campaign features 14 amazing Malaysian acts supported by international special guest stars in a series of 6 free-admission gigs in outlets around Klang Valley, Penang, and Johor, topped off with a unique grand finale show in Kuala Lumpur.
The live gig in The Bee was the first event so you still have plenty chances to catch them in action!
The awesome night kicked started with Paperplane Pursuit. They woo-ed the crowd with some upbeat and high-energy set. It just gets everyone of all ages up and dancing!
Apart from playing some of their well-known hits, the band surprised and delighted the audience with their unique take on Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya!’.
Next up, we had the legendary Kyoto Protocol. They were really good at acoustic set featuring crowd-pleasing anthem ‘Give Me Nothing’ and their incredible new single ‘Dispensable’.
They also shared a taste of their musical inspirations with a passionate rendition of the Pearl Jam classic ‘Jeremy’, proving beyond all doubt the talent, range, and versatility of the 5-piece band from Kuala Lumpur.
We had a big turnout that night and the crowd was fantastic. Awesome atmosphere that night!
That incredible evening ended with a very special guest star, Howie Day! We used his song ‘Collide’ as one of our wedding songs!
Apart from his smash-hit songs such as ‘Collide’ and ‘She Says’, Day played a mix of his classics and some more recent numbers in a passionate, emotional, and powerful set.
It is a very different music event that we have ever been to. It opened our eyes to some of our very talented local bands and musicians. Guinness Amplify: Music Made of More showcases music which is ‘Made of More’ – music that is made with true passion, talent, and dedication.
Guinness believes that talent are those who play dedicatedly on small bar stages night after night with the purpose to share their passion with the world. To bring this idea to live, Guinness is more than happy to provide a platform for our very own Made of More local artists to not only showcase their musical talents but their stories and reasons that brought them on this path.
We found them out through GUINNESS’s website WWW.AMPLIFY.COM.MY where they’ve also included other inspiring Made of More stories of different bands. Other than that, do you know you can win money can’t buy tickets for the finale there too?
Throughout the evening, lucky GUINNESS fans will also earned themselves exclusive, money-can’t-buy passes to the Grand Finale showcase at the end of the GUINNESS Amplify campaign. For more information on the upcoming gigs, visit WWW.AMPLIFY.COM.MY
