Three years ago, we went to Bali for the first time and fell in love with the island instantly. Bali is beautiful from a tourist perspective but we wanted to find out more about the local way of life. Hence, we vowed to return and to venture forth from the main tourist areas and discover Bali’s extraordinary mix of cultural, spiritual and regal heritage.
BII Maybank Bali Marathon offers us a different way to experience Bali. It is an annual road race event held in Bali. The Bali Marathon will have three categories— the 42.195-kilometer full marathon, a half marathon and a 10-kilometer marathon. There will also be a Children’s Sprint. The total prize money is USD 150,000; thus attracting runners from all over the world coming together to compete.

I’ve seen pictures from Bali Marathon in year 2012 and wished I was there immediately. The runners run through idyllic village roads with the cute children cheered on by the road-side.
The routes for the full and half marathons in Gianyar had been certified by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and had an International Measurement Certificate. I really hope that I can participate in this next month!
