Together with my best friends (Ivy, Christine, Wen Ching), we have formed a breakfast club unintentionally. It first started with meeting each other almost every Saturday morning to pass the time and discuss the week we’ve had. And soon it evolved into a habit. During one fine weekend in January 2013, we found ourselves at Butter + Beans @ Seveneteen to celebrate Ivy’s grand 2x birthday.
Butter + Beans is a really small and cozy cafe which sits less than 20 pax inside and out. We love the huge chalk-drawn portrait of a bear, displaying the drinks menu.
The café provides a comfortable environment filled with the aroma of fresh baked goods. A wide varieties of breads, pastries and cakes were on display but they sold out pretty fast as customers kept flowing in for takeaways.
Butter + Beans is run by a bunch of young and energetic chaps. The barista is really good in pouring latte art, as evidence by the pictures below.
We all enjoyed our cups of coffee – right temperature with smooth and silky froth.
The barista served the birthday girl a cup of Hot Chocolate. Nice gesture but we felt it lacks a strong chocolate taste and doesn’t meet our expectations.
Do you know that all bread and pastries are freshly made on site by the house pastry chef? We ordered quite a huge varieties to try - Croissant, Plain Au Valrhona, Apricot Danish, Blueberry Danish, Raspberry Tart, Peach Cobbler. Pastries price ranges from RM 4 to RM 10. Even the Salmon Quiche and Mushroom & Ham Quiche (Rm 10) were good – with a creamy texture and full flavor. We gave the birthday girl a little swet treat - Raspberry Orchid Cake (Rm 10) but it was really dry and flour-ly.

Butter + Beans @ Seventeen is a nice place to hang out and I really wish that they will expand in the near future.
