We mentioned in our previous post that convenience shops, eateries and street stalls are abundance around our serviced apartment in Bangkok. Hence, one is always spoiled with choices when it comes to eating around the Chong Nonsi train station.

We took lunch at Savoury Express, located just 2 minutes walk from our hotel. It is a hole in the wall eatery serving simple Thai fare. We had grilled pork neck, minced pork with basil, stir fried morning glory and kha noom jeen (thai noodle with coconute milk and pineapple, served cold). Food was nothing to shout about but a meal for 5 pax costs <RM50.

Off we went to do some shopping at Asiatique the Riverfront, a massive new shopping and lifestyle complex beside Bangkok’s Chao Phraya river. It serves to replace Suan Lum Night Market, which is no longer in operation right now. The vendors had now moved to Asiatique.

This piece of land used to be a traditional pier with rows of warehouse. Some of the 100 years old achitectures have been retained.

Eateries are aplenty over here; we have yum saap (Thailand most favourite instant noodles), KFC, The Pizza Company, Korean BBQ Buffet, etc.

Asiatique the Riverfront is filled with various eateries, bars and shops. If you asked me, it’s more of a place for wine and dine instead of shopping. Choices are really limited and things are not cheap here. If the weather permits, one can even watch the sun set by the river front.

Asiatique the Riverfront houses a massive food court with more than 50 food stalls selling local delights. However, we omitted dinner here as we are heading to Chinatown for something even better! Stay tune!

Getting Here:
Alight at Sapan Taksin BTS and continue with Asiatique’s service boat. It only takes ten minutes, and the boat runs until 23:00. Taxis are not recommended as the traffic can be terrible in this area.
