Waterlily Cafe @ Mutiara Damansara that shares the same owner as Waterlily Cafe, Bumbu Bali and Ole Ole Bali serves authentic Balinese cuisine and also a small selection of Western food. Though located at a fairly new development area, the neighborhood lends itself to word-of-mouth advertising as patrons discover the cafe soon after they are opened for business.

The bistro is designed with beautiful hardwood teak flooring, wood-carved panel and balinese furnitures.

Kampungboy who was working in Shanghai last month managed to squeeze in some time to drop by the Shanghai Expo. Here’s some night pictures for your viewing pictures. Please pardon the picture quality as he was using our humble little point and shoot camera.
Will write more about tips and strategies to survive Shanghai Expo in my next post.

The China Pavilion has a distinctive roof, made of traditional dougong or brackets, which date back more than 2,000 years. Don’t bother to queue because the China Pavilion will remain open to public after the Expo.

Old Klang Road is such a good place to feed our insatiable cravings for Japanese cuisine! Apart from Ishin and Xenri, we have Nihon Kai that offers good quality Japanese food that is light on the wallet.

We were here on a Saturday night and the place was packed to the brim. It took just under 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant is a small, simply decorated and the patrons profile are mainly families.
We ordered the Nihon Kai Sp Maki (RM16) as appetizer. The maki roll sans the rice is a nice fresh change to the usual makis. Julienne vegetables and raw salmon slices are wrapped together in thin rice paper (bánh tráng?) and topped with mayonnaise and tobiko. The salmon slices were resilient and smooth, and the vegetables provided a good crunch to the bite.

Our Bali trip is all about spa, food and sight seeing but not so much of sun and surf. Throughout the four days trip, we have visited quite a handful of temples and the Pura Taman Ayun (“Garden Temple in the Water”) is one of them.
Pura Taman Ayun was the royal temple of I Gusti Agung Anom, the founder of the Mengwi kingdom. Originally dating from 1634, it was restored and enlarged in 1937. Entrance fee is IDR3000 (RM1) per person.
It was drizzling by the time we got there. See how the poor cat seek shelter from the cold rain.

Solaris Dutamas is the latest place for some leisure shopping and dining! It is not exactly near to Solaris Mont Kiara. It is located in the vicinity of the Matrade building, Wilayah Mosque and the Government office complex at Jalan Duta. So to avoid driving around the maze of Mont Kiara and Segambut, hit Jalan Duta and look for the Wilayah Mosque!

It has becoming our favourite hang out place for Sunday brunches. Parking is a breeze during the weekend and it houses some of the most interesting cafes and restaurants around town. We have Nathalie’s Gourmet Studio, Wau Penyu, The Fish and Chippery, and the PINK SAGE!!
I love the interior of The Pink Sage; it is best to keep things simple and clean with a splash of trend or color here and there.

Chijmes is a former convent converted into a beautiful dining venue that houses many beautiful restaurants, cafes and bars. We were there during Christmas Eve last year. The management did a good job restoring and reviving CHIJMES Hall, an old chapel with fine gothic architecture.

Take a stroll along the beautiful lawn space and courtyard with your loved one. So romantic!
