Tao Cuisine All-You-Can-Eat Japanese Buffet @ Sunway Giza

tao
It’s no secret that we KL-lites especially the younger generation are infatuated by Japanese Buffet in general. Apart from the fame Jogoya, Munakata, Tenji, Saisaki, Shogun and various other hotels’ Japanese buffet as well as Sunday ala-carte buffet offered by Umaiya, Rakuzen and Xenri, the latest addition is Tao Cuisine who hails all the way from Penang! *yay*
tao-2
the briny & juicy behemoth oysters, fresh & succulent prawns and thick cut sashimi with average quality

At RM45++ for lunch and RM 58++ for dinner, the pricing is not too bad. Advance booking is almost a mandatory because we were here on a Monday night and the place is packed to the brim!

tao-5
Apart from the simple buffet line of salad, sashimi, sushi, teppanyaki and dessert, one can also order from the ala-carte menu that features more than 80 dishes. Place your order with the wait staff, and he will print the receipts and place it on your table. As the food arrives, the wait staff will remove the receipt from your table. I reckoned that it is a pretty efficient and fast way to avoid confusion.

Drinks selection are limited to ice lemon tea, orange juice, mango juice, peach tea, green tea, cappuccino and chocolate. No qualms on that; as we got unlimited refills and orders.
tao-1
The only bummer is the bad lighting. It is almost impossible to snap a good photo, which reminds me that we need to get an external flash! So I’ll just feature food that we thought was good. :)
tao-3
motoyaki scallops, grilled butter fish, grilled salmon and abalone slices
tao-4
lamb chop, sake clams, unagi togu and mini cheese tarts

The service was impeccable too. The wait staff were very attentive and they will change our plates every 30 minutes or so. Please note that if you are looking for some authentic Japanese cuisine, Tao Cuisine is not the place for you. Most of the ala-carte items are prepared in such a way that catered to the Malaysian tastebud, i.e. clever use of various dressings and sauces. We wouldn’t mind at all, as long as the food is good :)

I have only tried the one at Juru Autocity. And yes, they DID have a semi buffet spread of sushi and sashimi, together with some salads, if I’m not mistaken.

But it was their cooked items that really shine. Especially that luscious cheese wanton, and scallops with a spicy mayo.

Oh I had this before in Penang E-gate! They didn’t have semi-buffet spread back then and the price was only RM45 or 48 for dinner. :) I loved the scallops with cheese and the lamb chop! Nice stuff!

I was there last night, i don’t like it! I think the one in Wisma UOA or Shogun in Sunway Pyramid is much better that this.
The fruits & desserts are pathetic , the ice-cream corner always long queue , the sushi corner always empty and they did not noticed it until I remind them about it, the bbq dish served when it is already turn cold.
Overall, I will not be back there again.

I call up today around 4 something evening and i am totally pissed off with the bad attitude of their Receptionist!!! I am so sure that he is having poor English listening and speaking skills yet he forced me to speak in Cantonese, smoething like `You speak in cantonese! You speak in cantonese la~’ (*He act like I am the one who are poor in English). What the hack!!! We are a group of 10. Finally we decided to go for another buffet and Tenji is our final decision.
I probably will call up and also send a complain e-mail by tomorrow morning to their manager regarding this issue!!!!!

Hi Reindeer, I’m feel sorry for you. From my previous experience, the service of the wait staff is really good, they took initiative to clear our plates and even recommended us on what to order. You should lodge a complain to the manager. I hope that they will take note

Today I’ve served by a waiter namely BOAM (2049) which given us a very bad service. Not only not asking if we’ve done eating with foods while we’re taking pictures and took of our food but doubting us whether we could finish the foods we’ve ordered. By taking off the food without asking us and claimed that we couldn’t finish the food and wants to charge us the wasted food. This is not something up to the satisfactory level.
