Remember Max! Kitchen &Wines? Formerly nestled around Tengkat Tong Shin, this famous restaurant manned by Chef Max has relocated to iHaus; a German Interior Showhaus. It is located in a two storey bungalow at Jalan Jati, Imbi area that boasts a garden and ample parking space.

We were here for a reason, or maybe two: to usher in the New Year and to celebrate Chris’s and Ivy’s 2xth birthday.
Within the bungalow, the restaurant resembles a house with living hall, huge dining area and kitchen for a dining experience to make you “feel like home”. Errrr, I wish my house was that nice!

All furniture pieces in the show house are for sale; including the armed chair that you are sitting on while you dine.

Guess which dining set we chose (to sit over)?

We tried the Max’s Menu Degustation for RM120 per pax, that came with a set of 3 starters, a main course, a dessert and a glass of Itallian Batasiolo Cascine Prosecco. This 5 course tasting menu is created based on the fresh catch of the day or the availability of fresh ingredients from the market.
Let’s toast to our friendship.

Bromance 😀
Hillside Farm Lamb Cutlets, char broiled on Artichoke Barigoule and Garlic Gonfit

Rosemary Braised Duck Leg and Hickory Smoked Duck Breast with Persillade Sauce and Cannellini Bean Casserole

Croustillant of Braised Rabbit Shoulder with Frilled Loin Glazed Zucchini and a Sweet Sherry Reduction

Pan Seared Sea Scallops and King Prawn Broccollini Greens with Thyme – Chicken Reduction

Shiraz Braised Wagyu Beef Cheeks in Red Wine Sauce with Sautéed Seasonal Greens

The Desserts:
Rich Creamy Cheese Cake adorned with blackberries, blueberries and strawberry with a scoop of alcoholic sorbet

Green Tea with Red Bean Cake from San Terri

It’s like a gift exchange session with souvenirs from overseas, birthday gifts and christmas gifts being passed around.

C & C, KampungboyCitygal, Ivy & Wen Ching.

The food was perfectly cooked and presented but the giant, plump seared scallops that we had lacked in flavor. Certain parts of our lamb cutlets were burnt with a bitter note as well. Minor gripes aside, the melt-in-the-mouth braised wagyu beef cheek and braised duck leg were excellent. Max @ iHaus is a simple restaurant where you can appreciate fine cooking at a reasonable price. One can enjoy Chef Max’s cooking for only RM25++ too; just drop by for lunch on a weekday . 🙂
Happy Birthday to Chris & Ivy once again! May you be blessed with many more!
