Dave’s Pizza Pasta Vino @ One Utama

Lets Do it (x3)

And live it up

I gotta feeling that tonight’s gonna be a OINK night

Yay TGIF! What better way than celebrating the joy than to indulge in our favourite meal?

I love meat. The smell of it cooking can fill me with desire, and I find its juicy, rich flavor uniquely satisfying. So does my man – KampungBoy and Dad who loves meat. There isn’t any other better way than to celebrate their big day with a porky lardy splendor dinner. Just forgo the prim and proper and go straight for the tried and true – Dave’s it is.

Chef Darren Chin – the man in charge of kitchen operations at Dave’s.

Dave’s has a standard bar atmosphere, with simple setting, dim light and TVs all tuned into Sports Channel. For those looking to imbibe, the bar at the al fresco dining area holding rows after rows of alcohols is good enough.

look at the spread! only a fraction of what we had!

Few weeks back, we went for Munakata’s Buffet Dinner (RM 60+) in the company of people who like to eat as much as we do. Nothing tops our mutual understanding and  shared sense of purpose, that is getting the most out of our $$.  We went there with high hopes and empty stomachs and went home with stomachs on the verge of exploding.

Vkeong’s glowing review on Munakata Buffet has ignited our interest and we manage to secure a table on the following week. I can’t believe that I’ve never noticed this place despite the fact that I work nearby. Well, the outside looked a bit run down and it is a traditional Japanese restaurant with simple setting, something like Saisaki, the fame Japanese Buffet place.

We ate so much that it’s almost impossible to elaborate on every single dish one by one. I’ll just categorize them under the good, the mediocre and the bad part.

Restoran Tasty Chicken Rice @ Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara

Kota Chic Rice 015

So I had Tian Tian’s Chicken Rice @ Maxwell Food Court last weekend. Three years back, it was so good it brought tears to my eyes but now the standard has dropped considerably. Feel so sorry for Christine and Huai Bin that I dragged over to the long queue.

What about our very own champion Chicken Rice?  Crowned as the Malaysian Hainan Chicken Rice Open Competition champion in 2007, Tasty Chicken Rice is located within Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara.

So did the rice pass the test?

Each grain stood out as a fluffy and warm individual, unlike Tian Tian’s version which is slightly sticky and lumpy. However, Tian Tian’s chicken rice was very flavorful and aromatic when compared to Tasty’s chicken rice. Wouldn’t it be nice if we can have the best of both worlds?

Ipoh Food Excursion I – Nam Heong, Kwong Heng, Sam Poh Tong, Aun Kheng Lim Salted Chicken, Onn Kee Taugeh Chicken, Yuan Wah Snow Beer

IMG_6341-1

The title is self explanatory. Together with my usual partners in crime, we drove back to my lovely hometown, Ipoh and practically nonstop binge eating through out the week. I’m now having a hard time adjusting back to our usual de-lata lifestyle here at KL.

As usual, the balik kampung rush has choked the highway to death. Time flies when we were having fun gossiping and before we knew it, the Simpang Pulai toll is just few kms away.

HK MACAU 2009 1315
This will mark the end of our Hong Kong & Macau posts. I will find some time to upload a HK/Macau makan list at the side bar. Just keep a look out for it.

We stayed at Taipa Village for the final leg of our trip. Unlike Macau Island, Taipa Village still functions on a daily basis, enabling us to experience everyday local life.
HK MACAU 2009 1326
We woke up really early in the morning and after freshened up, we were looking for  a proper place to cure our hunger pangs. We stumbled upon Cafe Mun Kor, a small, casual off the beaten path cafe where the locals go.
