Taiwan Day 5&6: Luodong, Yilan (Part I)

0

Towards the end of our Taiwan Trip, we came to LuoDong, a township in the central part of Yilan County. LuoDong is famous for its beautiful landscape and various fairy tale like manor located along DongShan River.

It was a clear case of love at first sight when I first saw the pictures of the exterior of Rothenburg Lodge. At the same time, I was touched by the Mr Hsu’s determination and persistence in realizing his dreams. Having to spend all of his savings coupled with a multi million dollar loan, noone is supportive towards Mr. Hsu’s painstaking pursuit and he almost gave up. However, Mr. Hsu has decided to hang on to his dream and Lothenburg Lodge is opened after a construction period of more than four years!

Tudor-style architecture is just one feature making this B&B stand out from the rest. Built from solid genuine Cedarwood, there is a warming, grounding aroma throughout the house. Apart from that, the lodge itself is endowed with 82 tall trees that presents a magnificent view of the surrounding environment.

Restoran Boston Baru @ Klang

Butter Mantis Prawn with Corns (RM 15) – so delicious that it is worth going the extra miles.

If you are a seafood fanatic, Restoran Boston Baru is the place to go. Our friend, Miss J who knows her way around Klang brough us here for dinner one day, and it is apparent that Klang people loves this place too.

We reached at 7pm sharp but to our horror, the place was packed and all tables were fully occupied. We even bumped into James who went home disappointed after seeing the crowd. Finally the long wait is over when the butter mantis prawn came to our table hot and crispy. Unlike some other version with too much flour, Boston’s version is perfect with the right proportion of batter. The butter sauce with corns was incredibly rich and creamy with an enriched butter taste. Definitely one of the best!

Steamed Lala with Superior Stock (RM 12) is one of their signature dish and you can easily spot it in every table. Steamed with fried garlic,  birds eye chilli, ginger and rice wine, the lalas were so fresh and juicy. The sweet and spicy superior stock was extremely addictive to the senses too. Even for a person who can tolerate spicy food well, KampungBoy still find it spicy (in a good way).

Happy 5th Anniversary @ Kura Japanese Restaurant, One World Hotel

Copy of 5th anniversary1

When I first met you five years ago,I could not stand this arrogant man that stood before me and you dislike me for my intimidating stares.

For some strange reason, chemistry sparks between us and I knew you were the one and only one for me.

Thanks for changing my life for the better, thanks for tolerating my tantrums and my emotional moments, and many thanks for the years of happiness and joy that you have brought to me. To be able to spend the rest of my life with you gives me something to look forward to day after day.

Happy 5th Anniversary to Us!
Copy of 5th anniversary

On this special occasion, we went to Kura Japanese Restaurant at One World Hotel for a simple meal. Look at our previous anniversary dinner here (2nd, 3rd, 4th)

The interior is elegant but not overdone, making the restaurant stylish but providing a vague hint of coziness at the same time.
