Taiwan Trip Day 2: Fu Hang Dou Jiang 阜杭豆漿 – Taiwan Story Land 台灣故事館

IMG_0740

On the second day of our stay in Taipei, we had a very awesome breakfast at this place called Fu Hang Dou Jiang, located at the second floor of  HuaShan Market Building. We reached there around nine only the find that the queue was really long  and it was being stretched all the way towards the other end. Could you spot me?

You’ll notice when you walk in that there are two lines. The left line is to dine here while the right line is for takeaways. Be forewarned that not even an English alphabet is found on the menu/sign board, and it’s really hard to pinpoint because  most of the food was freshly made upon order. So please bring along a friend who can read/speak chinese, ie me.

Chinese Muslim Food @ Dong Yi Shun, Kota Damansara

*no longer in business*
IMG_0293

Good news for my Muslim friends and readers! Located at The Strand, a spanking new area just behind Sunway Damansara, Dong Yi Shun is a hidden gem that serves Chinese Muslim 清真 food. FYI, the Chinese word for halal is “pure truth” (清真).

With 13 restaurants around Hangzhou, Shanghai, Shaoxing and and Yiwu, Dong Yi Shun specializes in Northern Chinese Islamic cuisine that incorporate beef more than any other meat into their cuisine. We have been there a few times and have always eaten well. The food is really good, and reasonably priced for a simple week day dinner.

So, let us present to you the Day One of our Taiwan trip, which we will touch on the youth travel card, digital travel buddy and also our cheap accommodation in Taipei. We’ll be providing a list of hotel/hostel that we really like too. Please scroll down.

We have the privilege to fly with MAS again; the first one was a 4D3N trip to Kota Kinabalu. It was a bigger air craft which appears open and spacious. I love the extra leg space and you know how an extra inch of legroom can mean the difference between comfort and misery. MAS present a very generous maneuvering space for your legs and oh, recline your seat if you wish to.

While some airlines have already removed all the pillows and blankets from their flights to save weight, I’m glad that MAS is still providing their passengers with such luxurious item.

A stroll around the corner brings us to the amazingly busy and chaotic Gage Street where the most famous Hong Kong cha chan teng Lan Fong Yuen is situated. The 50 year old shop is also the birth place of “pantyhose milk tea” 絲襪奶茶 that has become something so significant in Hong Kong’s food and drink culture that it is craved daily by the Hong Kongers.
