to be frank, we think that Yung Kee is seriously overhyped. or maybe it was just a case of…luck was not on our side? do hope that they get more consistent with their quality.

Yung Kee seems to be really inconsistent with their Roast Goose arrrgh!

U know in hk, some people try to justify its soggy skin by saying this is the way its served, aka 潮連燒鵝 style. But in fact this is not true – as the staff told me its meant to be crispy, its just that sometimes when the additional sauce is scooped on, it kind of softened up the skin. Apparently they are now trying extra hard to pour the sauce beneath the goose rather than on top of it. I’ve had some crispy as well as soggy geese here before.

As for other dishes, some are surprisingly executed pretty well, whereas others are disappointing. I have no idea how to rate or review this restaurant at all… To me, its like – why don’t the chefs have self expectations and also taste their own food first, before giving it to the customers! No excuses there…

I ate at yung kei too, my dad’s recommendation. sooooo bloody expensive. we had the goose feet… 烧鹅掌. Seriously, doesn’t taste exceptionally well until it need to charge so expensive.

Perhaps the hefty price tag comes with the location?

My dad said there’s this tea house (was it a few shops away? cant remember..) also very famous.
