Urbanscapes 2009!
Calling for all music, arts, film, theater and fashion frenetic out there! Urbanscapes is back, bigger and better this time around! The success of previous Urbanscapes events has made it a highly anticipated affair. For those who are clueless on what Urbanscapes is all about, it’s actually a all day creative arts festival that showcases everything artsy fancy for everyone out there.
For Fashionistas
Looking for new delicious goodies to grab? There will be a market place with clusters of vendors selling new fashionable items and offloading their couture goodies at rock bottom prizes. Think about vintage goodies, studded heels, peplum skirt, acid jeans etc.
Spotted are some of my favorite offline and online boutiques. The list of participating vendors are pretty enticing, with Baci, Beautiful Disaster, Brollies, Chic Yamada, Lah’Lah’Land, Patty Belle, Shoes Shoes Shoes, Sleek Sisters, Soak Republic, Tea & Sympathy and The Girl Next Door. You just need to do some real treasure hunting!

Yong Len Coffee Shop @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail
We have heard so much about the famous prawn noodles in Yong Len Coffee Shop at Taman Tun Dr. Ismail but it wasn’t until last month we made an effort to drop by.
The coffee shop was so crowded that we have to push our way to the back and wait for a table. Expectations on the prawn noodles were set high as almost everyone in the restaurant was having it. We were sad to say that the prawn noodles do not live up to all the hype surrounding it. The broth was too sweet, even an addition of chili sambal doesn’t do any good.
Feeling unsatisfied, we ordered a plate of char kuey teow and it was all good! Full of wok hei, the flat noodles were dry and slightly charred with very fresh prawns and plump bean sprounts which reminds me of Ipoh’s Sar Hor Fun.

Tai Cheong Bakery & Chan Yi Zai @ Central, Hong Kong
For our travel itinerary, please click here. Continuing from Hong Kong Day 3 – Lin Heung Tea House @ Central
After a rather disappointing dim sum meal in Hong Kong, we proceeded to our second stop – Tai Cheong Bakery. The store front was exceptionally quiet on a Saturday morning but we have no complaints. The thought of having to queue up and wait endlessly for food sends shivers down our spine.

Day 3:
Hilly slopes are everywhere in Central but there is an easier way to get to Wellington Street where the famous Mak’s Noodles, Yung Kee Roasted Goose and Lin Heung Tea House is located. Take the Exit C of Central MTR Station, turn left and walk straight a couple of lanes until Queen Victoria Street, turn left and walk to the start of the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator. The Central-Mid-Levels Escalator travels down from 6:00 am to 10:00 am but go up from 10:30 am to midnight.
