Going Mexican for Today’s Dinner

It’s fridge clearing day and I have to get rid of my stocks of food. I have a box of meat chunks residing at the inner corner of freezer, some (still) plump and juicy tomatoes, cucumber slices, one pinky potato, and quarter packet of cheese powder (I use it for like ENDLESSLY, shall buy a smaller packet next time)
KampungBoy had some grumbles that he had enough of mee and rice this few weeks. This causes headache to the chef, and suddenly I remember that I still have a packet of tortillas from Tesco remain unopened. Let’s try something MEXICAN today!

Cut the tomatoes into half, remove the seeds, stuff in some cooked meat chunks and potato cubes, sprinkle it with some cheese powder, and sent them into the ovens for 3-5 minutes.

Heat the tortillas in a non stick frying pan for few minutes, flip it a few turns in slow fire to get the crunchy outer layer.

Meat chunks + Pototoes + Grounded Black Pepper + Diced Red Pepper + Black Pepper Sauce + Mayo + Cheese Powder = Heaven!

Opssss..The wrappings are awful..It looks more like popiah than the usual tortillas that we had outside..However verdict from KampungBoy: Yummy-Licious!!..And he’s happily doing his dish washing now~!

Teriyaki Donburi and Curry Donburi

Teriyaki Pork Donburi

Yummy-licious Curry

Something very Chinese – Hong Kong Kailan with Oyster Sauce and Fried AnchoviesExams are approaching untill WE (the last minute heros) barely have time to breath. SO please bear with us as the few coming post will be featuring on home cooked food. (AGain??!! Yawn **) We promise you that as soon as the exams are done, we’ll go ahead to hunt for more good stuff around!

Deep in my heart, I’m so dissappointed that I can’t follow Radicalz to Sushi KIng for the RM 2 great deal. Hey, who says that I can’t have some Japanese stuff at home?? Hehehe, and thus I came out with Donburi (something on top of rice) and my favourite Japanese curry.Step by step guide :

Coat the pre marinated sliced pork (or any meat that you desires) with some corn flour.

Pan fry the slices until golden brown.

Remove pork and drain excess oil from pan

Sautee some finely chopped onions and garlic and add in the teriyaki sauce (I bought those ready made one from Jusco).

Crack in two eggs and it’s done when the sauce has thickened. (Make sure that the eggs are still a bit runny so that it will sipped into ur rice..Hmmmm..SOunds good)

Put the meat slices and the teriyaki sauce with RUNNY eggs on top of Japanese rice in a donburi bowl.

Notes:

1)The colour of the meat slices is a too light, maybe i could add some dark soy sauce next time. Darker colour food looks more appetizing definitely.

2)If Katsudon (Donburi with breaded pork) is more to your cup of tea, coat the meat with bread crumbs and deep fried them.

3)My eggs are not runny!! Arghhhh..have to be extra cautious next time.

Coconut milk is boiled with sugar and pandan leaves.

Stirring process must be continued until the mixture become smooth.

More coconut milk, sugar and water are added in.

At the mean time, another small pot of gula melaka is boiled seperately.

After 5-6 hours of stirring, pour in the gula melaka and continue stir till the mixture is smooth.

KampungBoy and me taking part as part of the working team. Each session lasts for one hour and consists of six person. I made a big mistake by wearing a pair of beige coloured pants, I still can see traces of ashes on it. :(

Kampungboy and his buddy Yong Ji.

The final product! Let is cool down for 30 minutes before sealing it.

Main sponsor: Mutiara Dodol. You must be wondering where the dodols went? It was distributed free to those students participated in the “Dodol Cooking Session”. However, it limited to 1 pack per a group of 6 students or per session only.

Ramai Hawker Centre @ Bandar Puchong

It’s another weekend of grocery shopping at Tesco Puchong. I’m sure that Puchong folks would be familiar with this place. Ramai food centre is located beside Tesco Puchong. If you are coming from the main road, just look at any place with green sign board and CROWDs.

The most happening hawker centre around Puchong area.

Braised duck meat (RM 6). I saw people having this, and intuition told me that this would be nice. The sauce is simply irresistable! After long hours of braising, the duck meat turns out to be tender and the broth has a strong soy sauce smell.

Char Kuey Teow (RM3.50). There’s something wrong with the prawns and clams and the whole thing is too oily.

Stir Fry Lala (RM7). The sauce is just nice with a nice hint of spiciness and some fragrant curry leaves. The crunchy fried shrimps is another adding point too! Kampungboy said that this is a must order item here!
