What Comes Into Your Mind When I Say Typical Student Meal

For those who left their schooling days far behind, you might be craving for what you had during your younger time. Instant noodles, Pringles, Chips More, Ping Pong Cream Crackers, Apollos and lots more. There’s always a healthier option to those typical student JUNKs. A simple American breakfast with sunny side up, bacons, hash brown, sausages and tomatoes will do. OK, i admit that sausages does more harm than good but who cares if you take it once in a while? Since its new year time, we had some arrowhead crisps as breakfast. Think East meets West.

Forget about Maggi, Mamee and Indo Mee. Try your own version of home cooked mee instead. Prepare a bowl of clear soup with anchovies, then throw in your favourite veges, mee and mushrooms. If you doesnt want to feel vegan, fry some self marinated meat slices and place it on top of your bowl of mee. Trust me! It’s extremely easy and hassle free!

Typical Student Meal can be healthy and yummy too!

Old Chang Kee @ One Utama New Wing

Old Chang Kee is a common sight in Singapore. The only outlet that i know in Msia is located at One Utama. Can anyone tell me whether they have other outlets around Klang Valley?Thumbs up to their Curry Puffs!

Other than the usual potatoes and chicken pieces, they add egg slices which make it taste so good.
Curry Puff With Egg (RM1.50) Though a bit pricey but it’s even better than the Ikea’s
Fish Ball On Sticks (RM1.50)
They have other on sticks product available such as squid wings, crab balls, squid balls, etc.

Cooking Curry Is As Easy As ABC

My cooking style is “shawned“!! Recently i love to pile or throw in everything into some thick and saucy gravy like crazy!! Guess what?? It’s extremely appetizing and it goes well with rice. The most important FACT: The cooking method is as easy as ABC. “AIyah..I dun know how to cook larrrrr!” is no longer a valid excuses. After reading entries from She bakes and She cooks, I decided to do my own version of Japanese curry. Instead of the sooo famous and soooo expensive Vermont Curry, I substituted it with The Curry House. (RM6.90 per pack from Jusco)

First, cut up 1 medium potatoes, 1 medium size onion, 1 regular size carrot, 1 regular size green apple and some baby corns into cubes. Next shimmer the onions with the chicken fillet till its cooked. Add in the greens and the curry mixture with appropriate amount of water. I’d learn a lesson here: Add in the green apples few minutes before the curry is done to reserve it’s crunchiness. Green apple is my secret weapon because the sourish taste goes well with the curry mixture.

Bar BQ Plaza @ One Utama New Wing

Love is in the air!~I’m pampered with gifts from friends and my loved one. KampungBoy refuses to let me reveal what he bought as V-pressie. It’s just something that i wanted to buy and i like so much!~ Thanks for lending your shoulder for me to lean on, your ears to listen to all my grumbles, your eyes to watch out for my clumpsiness and your soul for being with me through rain or shine. Happy Valentine’s Day!~

Bar BQ Plaza is a franchise originated from Bangkok and recently they opened their first outlet in Malaysia at Lot 338a,1st Floor,Rainforest, 1 Utama Shopping Centre. For me it’s more like Korean Steamboat with 2 in 1 steamboat and grilling. So it’s a Thai restaurant which serves Korean Steamboat in Malaysia. Globalization is the IN thing now!

Neither KampungBoy nor me fancy candlelit dinner where we are forced to order the pricey lovers set and dare not to move an inch because the waiters are staring at you. The most important thing is we hate long queues. So eventually we had chosen this new outlet to have our not-so-romantic valentine’s dinner.

The air ventilation is strong enough to make sure that the barbq smell won’t stay on you.

The step by step guide

Sauce Combination and the FATSSSSSS..Arghhhh Soooo Scary

Their home made sauce is EXCELLENT! Taste nutty, spicy, sweet, sour..? Undescribable

Gyoza – My all time favourite RM 5.50 for a plate of six

The dual combo RM 28

Thin slices of beef, pork and bacons..Tempting enough?

OK Let’s start with Step 1: Pour in the chicken stock clear soup

Step 2: Place the fats on the top of the round plate

Step 3: Add in the veges to add some sweetness to the soup and have fun BarBQing

Wrong Method: We rubbed the fats around the round plate just like butter. It shall be placed on top of it. The waiter told us that seafood must be dipped in the boiling soup before grilling to make sure that it is cooked.

Our leftovers – KampungBoy:”Girl a, cabbage very cheap meh?”

KampungBoy:”Come out also wana play masak-masak” (Shake his head)

Surprise surprise! Free desserts exclusively on V-Day! Mango Sago (RM4.50)

Leng Zhai with his HoneyDew Sago (RM4.50)

CityGal: “Must leave some good comment since they give us freebies!”

Happy Valentine’s Day!~ With Warmest Wishes from CityGal

Reunion Dinner @ Restaurant Leong Ya Indah

We called it a FRIENDS reunion dinner and we had it soon after the Chap Goh Meh. Haha weird huh? Leong Ya is located near The Mines Shopping Centre and they serves Yeong Tau Fu and other side dishes. There used to be 4 to 5 Leong Ya outlets at the Seri Kembangan area but now they cut it to two branches.

Leong Ya’s signature dish – Chee Baw Gai (Paper Wrapped Chiken)

It’s different from what I had in Ipoh before. This is a gravy version and i can taste ginger and chinese wine.

Salad Chicken – The gravy is sweet and sourish and it tasted like Thousand Island

The most popular dish on the table that it clears up in few seconds

Pai Guat Wong( Emporer Pork Ribs )

Yam Basket – The presentation is nice but it tastes flat

In house tofu – My mum likes to order this way back in hometown because it resembles bricks of gold

Soft Shell Crab – It’s making me crazy!!

It’s sooooo crunchy!!

Weekend Meals

Another lazy weekend at home..Haha Citygal managed to finish 20 episodes of drama in two days..Imba..Other than drama-ing, cooking ignites her interest too.. Perhaps I’m the youngest domestic goddess ever..SIgh *_*

Ladies and gentleman..We are proudly to present Honey Roasted Chicken Wing..Kids love this the most..

I substitute honey with brown sugar for the nice brownish colour but it lack of the ’stickiness’ and aroma of honey. Stirred Fry Mixed Vegetables. We have baby corns, mushrooms, cabbages, tomatoes and brocollis. These are the only veges that the carnivorous species kampungboy will eat.

Our dinner on the following day. As you can see leftover veggies but we have black pepper fish fillet. It’s appetizing!

KampungBoy claimed that he came out with this. But hey I’m the one who do the cutting and marinating. Haha ok lar both should be counted for the good food. Hohoho..Kampungboy said that its a rare phenomena that I’m willing to do the clean up..Hmmfff..He said that i need more domestic training..Who said that good cook must be a good cleaner??
