Baking Is Soooooo Fun!

I have to confess that I’m neither an avid or PRO baker like other food bloggers. Since most food bloggers can bake and cook well, the kiasu-ness inside urged me to start doing something. So, I got this egg tart recipe from Jo’s Deli and Bakery and guess what, it taste great! Applause to me! It just gives me more confidence in the baking arena!

Notes:To avoid the egg filling to dampen the pastry, lightly prick some holes on the pastry and brush a layer of egg white before pouring in the egg filling.
I like my egg filling with some gingerly taste. So i squeezed in 2 tbsp of ginger juice into my mixture.

Haha..Another attempt..Its Strawberry Cake as i add in some fresh strawberry cubes into my cake mixture.

The Ipohan Culture of Yum Cha – Ming Court Dim Sum

Ipoh is famous for Hong Kong style Dim Sum and usually tourists will opt for the famous Foh San. But personally i think that Ming Court Dim Sum is the best Dim Sum in Ipoh. Maybe its because of my childhood memory. Every Sunday, Dad would take us to Yum Cha and we went to Ming Court quite frequently. Please dun get me wrong, as there’s no Ming Court Hotel in Ipoh, it’s simply MING COURT HK DIM SUM. Do take note that they are closed on Thursday.

Can the four of us gobble it all down??

Lor Mai Kai (Glutinous rice with chicken, mushroom, hard boiled egg and preserved sausage)

Wu Kok aka Taro Puff – One of my favourite coz i like the soft texture of yam

Char Siew Bao – I hafta admit that Foh San’s one are better

Egg Tarts – Ck n Kenny Lurve it

Fried Glutinous Ball with Red Bean Paste

Fried Prawn Roll

Black Sesame Tong Sui – It does wonder to our skin- My favourite coz its creamy yet not too sweet

Porridge with Century Eggs and Lean Meat – My Favourite!!

Winter Melon Soup with dried longan and rock sugar.

Buy a whole winter melon and cut off the top, remove the seeds or not depending on your own preference, place the water, dried longan and rock sugar and steam for 3 hours until the winter melon turn soft. Can see the steam?? Hmmmm..I think its done perfectly..Coz my first attempt was a failure..:(
Winter Melon flesh can ease urination, the seed has whitening effect, the skin can be used as facial mask, and thus it is a comfort food to the Chinese. It tastes real good, the flesh is soft as cotton and the longan is sweet.

Sup Pedas Ayam Kampung (Spicy Soup With Chicken)

.

As recommended by Julie The Biscuit and Eating Asia ..It’s in some residential area of Seri Kembangan..Just ask any locals and they will give you the direction..
Spicy Soup with lots and lots of white pepper and ginger slices..And sprinkled with celery..Caution: For spice lovers only
Beware : Innards~!!!!! KampungBoy loves innards while CityGal dun really fancy it. How to describe? It’s chewy??

The Spicy Soup and White Rice – Perfect Combination
Chicken with Dark Soy Sauce and Fah Teu Wine – The dark sauce goes well with rice that CityGal ‘tambah nasi’ (add rice) for the first time in her life..(a bit exagerating huh?)..The Fah Teau taste is light so it will lingers in your mouth for just a while..Nice..

Ice Kacang

KampungBoy & CityGal has been busy lately, exams are slowly killing them. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasures. Lorong Selamat is a must go eatery in Penang right? Basically most hawker stalls in Penang served good char keoy teow. The best that i have ever eaten is from Sisters at Jalan Macalister, its a greater value for money. Assam Laksa from Air Itam is a must try too, if you are not afraid of the crowd. Adios~! Study time~!
